Had it for a week and a bit now, but thought I'd shove it in here amongst all the other fine metal.

Hi to anyone on OCUK to whom this thread might be familiar wink

After much deliberating and research over what I can replace my 2000 Honda Accord with, I settled on the ST220. It seems to offer everything I need/want in a nice package, namely comfort, decent bit of performance, gadgets, reliability and decent running costs without overshadowing my weekend toy the Supercharged MX5 biggrin

So this is the one I bought! It's an 04 plate Machine Silver hatchback with 54,000 miles on the clock, and I paid £6,750. I might have been able to find it for a few hundred cheaper from a private seller half way up the country in six months' time, for example, but this one is really in very good condition, very clean and drives superbly, so I thought sod it. It's from a Ford main dealer and has a full Ford service history, and it appears very well looked after; has four Contisport Contact 3s on. I'm happy to pay a bit extra for peace of mind etc, plus it's a car that doesn't have a set "value" per se it would seem, and the values seem to fluctuate!

In short, I love the noise and grunt of the V6, I love the comfort of the seats and the masses of toys/gadgets and increased refinement over the Honda. I love how it looks, and I love how rare they are smile

The only niggle is a reluctance to engage 1st/reverse when cold and sometimes when warm, but Ford have diagnosed it as a clutch problem (dragging) so a new one is being fitted under warranty on Monday smile I also need to have a very small seam tear in the driver's seat repaired. Other than this it's pretty immaculate!

Anyway.. Pics!

I'm really, really tempted to get one of those.
I was tempted before I got the 2.0 Ghia. But since it's for commuting and parking in city car parks, and running around doing what-not, I thought "fk-it", I can't justify the money on running one of those.
But I'm sort of regretting it and still looking at them. And maybe I can cut down on the commuting a bit (though I'm still going to have to do a fair amount).
Do your best to dissuade or tell me to just F-ing get one.

I love mine, yet I still feel a bit bored with it. I'm looking at the Audi S4 (B6) at the moment, but it's going to have to be damned good to top the Mondeo. Wish I could afford to keep the ST220 and get something else too.

I don't think I'll get bored of it quickly, I have the MX-5 for fun, and this for everything else, and everything else it does so well smile

I'm after one also i think... in estate form, preferably in black or grey.

Good purchase, and re tyres, i always think someones cared for the car if they've chose to fit Conti 3's to it! Not the cheapest tyre, by far.

Howard its been a while!
How are tricks?

VERY nice choice.

I really miss mine, awesome awesome cars! Does everything you could want out of a daily drive, and just is such a good ride. On the road, on the track, it certainly holds its own.

Although I did say a while ago they were the future! biggrin

I knows frown I thought you'd died or something!
Any reason or just drifted away and not ventured back?

I don't, unfortunatly doing 4k a month was killing me on fuels frown I would have one in a heartbeat though if I was given a fuelcard. biggrin

It was replaced with an E39 530D Sport (Manual ofc!) and in the last fortnight, an E90 335D M-Sport. smile

That's some mileage! Are those two BMWs company cars?

Yeah I just kinda drifted away really..! Doesn't seem as enthusiast-friendly as many places including this one!

Unfortunatly not, they are mine.

Yeah it has changed somewhat, but you should venture over from time to time. smile

Oh and get some 'aero flat' wipers to finish off the ST220 nicely.

Still liking mine... great daily hack. smile

A few minor tweaks have helped, but for the money I can't think what I'd replace it with.

Enjoy. smile
