Back in an interesting car at last...
Discussion
...well, more interesting than a diesel Colt anyway. Even if it is somewhat less reliable and somewhat more likely to lead to aspersions being cast on certain aspects of my orientation.
It has 698cc, 3 cylinders and 80hp which is rather less on all counts than one would consider ideal for a sports car. But to be honest, I don't really see it as a sports car - it's a commuting car that just happens to be fabulously entertaining to drive round bendy roads at entirely legal speeds whilst returning (in my first week) 60mpg.
Anyway, I like it a lot. And honestly, can a black car ever really be considered, to use the words of a colleague on hearing of my purchase, a bit camp? Hmm. Perhaps...

HAHA that number plate is priceless!
Saw one of these earlier in Gulf colors... looked for a PH sticker but didn't see one
I spotted that one on the M3 (I think), around Le Mans time...Saw one of these earlier in Gulf colors... looked for a PH sticker but didn't see one
I saw it on the Nottingham ring road earlier tonight.

the servicing is fairly expensive but its worth it.
How expensive if you don't mind me asking?A service is about £200
B service is about £250
C service is about £300
the Brabus needs a service every 6-7000 miles.
Over 18 months i put on 39,000 miles so it needed a service every 3 months. the interval are A B A C A B etc..
Tyres for the rear are specially made for the Brabus, 225, 35 17 - £200 ish each and normally have a 2 week lead time as they come from Germany.
The last service i had on the car was a c service, plus i had a cracked air-con pipe (common fault) to change the pipe the engine needs dropping out of the car.
£800 ish for that service alone.
the most expensive thing i have had it the exhaust which is made of tin so that rots through. the cat is part of it so to buy one direct from Brabus is £1800 ish....
still it was an awesome car and i would have one again but not as a commuter!!!
The plate's not real. Just having a laugh at my own expense. Ahem.
A few more of my initial thoughts on ownership here. It's only broken down once so far! http://www.auto-journals.com/journals/Smart?model=...
That Gulf colour one does look rather good, if mildly sacrilegious. Of course, being a Coupé (with the glass back) it's inherently more manly than the plain Roadster...
