1.5 turbo, 0-60 in 7.6 seconds. Doesnt handle as well as the Ibiza Fr or Clio 182 she had before but its a hoot to drive.

For some reason i really like that.
Think its because it looks like your average shopping cart but as the surprise of having decent performance.

Sorry, mate, hoot to drive it may be, but it's ugly. Can I just ask why buy one of these after the Clio and the Ibiza?

I like how it looks like a baby Evo, you don't see many about either.

I don't know if they fixed it on the facelift, and maybe the more "sporty" model would be better, but the pre-facelift models are noted for being iffy (squirmy) on bends at motorway speeds, particularly the 5dr models which don't have the rigidity of the 3dr.

Because she wanted a change, didnt do many miles so couldnt justify the diesel (FR) or running costs of 182, this was about the only car that ticked all the boxes like fun, practicality and running costs.

Its the Ralliart version which has the stiffened sports suspension. For a high car it handles very well, just not quite as good as her previous cars. If its driven properly its fine.

First time she showed me it at the garage I walked away as I thought it looked crap. Now the more I look at it the more I love it. Its a bit of a marmite car.

I don't know why they don't hose out Colt's in vast numbers - they're very good value. We have a 5dr CZ1 in the family and even with optional a/c it was £7K new 3 years ago. At the time you could the 3dr without a/c for £6K.

The dealers generally don't have a great reputation though - and we switched dealers after the first service as they tried to steal money off us. We missed out by 3mths on the free servicing package and servicing is expensive, although the 2 year service includes stuff like brake fluid change and brake servicing which most makes add on as an extra.

I do think the facelift front is ugly though!

Had a bog standard one as a rental this year, dunno the engine size, but it handled really nicely. I did notice the carpet had worn away to the floor metal though (10k miles on the clock, car from Hertz). The OP's car looks good and the performance figures aren't too shabby either.

Out of interest, what's the MPG stats on that ?
Driven normally its getting around 40 mpg. Its more thirsty on the turbo but then thats to be expected.

I quite like it, but it does look rather high on its suspension.
