It needs some love, that's for sure. Wheels are too big and what's with the rear-rake?

Has potential though, i guess.

I've always liked the Nova shape, I would love an SRI with the 3 spoke Vauxhall wheels, the only 3 spokes that I've seen that look any good

its got a 1.6 16v corsa gsi pre ecotec engine inside her ive had it 120mph which i think is pretty good for a 1600cc
Your speedo is probably massively out with those huge wheels!

Besides that it looks in fairly decent nick for its year!

Insurers will pay out third party claims, so not to worry if he hits you - the only person to be out of pocket will be the OP.

It would be interesting (well not really) to know that if it was insured as being modifed with the 1.6, but was DVLA registered and thus taxed as a 1.4 whether it would be covered properly by insurance. You can still have insurance without any tax (driving to MOT etc), but with the wrong sort tax band may be different?

Chances are it is only insured TP or TPF&T anway, but if it was fully comp and had undeclared mods (esp an engine swap) then the policy holder would be unlikely to be paid out if he claimed on his own policy. Any third party claims would legally have to be met by the ins company, ie personal injury or damage) though they could technically pursue the policy holder for their payout.

..Yes, but I asked if it being insured as 1.6 (and in turn with any other modifications declared..). smile

As we read a lot about, the insurance company would probably try and wriggle out any way they could.

Ah, slightly mis read - I dont think they could wriggle on that, it wouldnt have any bearing on the situation.

isn't the rear spoiler an early spec one? im sure the later spec spoliers didn't run around the sides of the window just went across the top.

That is correct, the spoiler fitted to this one is from a MK1 Nova, possibly a GTE.

I had a MK2 Nova 1.4 SRI when I was 19, still one of my favourite cars that one. One of the ones I wish I had never sold.

Can't be many. I knew someone who had a K-reg Luxe+ model, had electric windows, central locking, cross-spoke alloys and same stereo as in the Cavalier of the time. Almost last of the line. Seemed like luxury in a supermini back then.

Pity the OP hadn't kept it standard, would probably be worth more now.

I do find it odd that so many people who own this ilk of car thing the most important thing to do is to plonk a bigger engine in, rather than sorting the handling and brakes first.
Oh, and the OP has claimed to have had 120mph out of it- so it's been up to that speed at some point despite the DVLA thinking it's got a different engine. wink

Would it matter if he did 120mph in a road legal car or not? Still going to get arse raped by the long dick of the law

A fair point, driving without insurance + 120mph would probably be a suspended sentence or the ilk? I'm not that clued up on legal things but I'm sure the argument would be that dangerous speed + no insurance = shafted.
