The insurance on mine was less than what it cost me to insure a 1.2 8v Corsa so don't worry about it to much biggrin

OP, very sorry about the 147. I remember the thread on Reader's Cars a few months back, what a stunning example it was. Your new steed certainly looks tidy, the interior and engine bay look virtually new!

Cheers fella, and thanks for the comments about the 147, was a nice example smile

I'll be looking to get the 145QV up to my standards as it's not as perfect as it looks wink

The engine bay is not as spotless as it looks, but with some elbow grease it should polish up perfectly and the interior is spotless, must agree there smile

Looks a decent steed for £600. I like the Becker head unit, was that fitted when you bought it?

Massive amount of car for the money. Never owned one but test drove a 146Ti once (same engine) and it was a cracker, sounded great when being thrashed. Ended up buying a VR6 though just for the engine noise. Enjoy!

I don't wish to come across as some sort of 'What Car' reader here, but the wife needs a new motor, and has mentioned in the past that she quite likes the 147's.

So, bearing in mind that we have a newborn, any chance of a couple of piccies of the boot space and the rear seating space?

With the above two in mind we are currently looking at Xsara VTS's, so would be interesting to see how they compare.

Cheers.
Sure, give me 10mins smile

Thanks for posting the pictures thumbup

However, it doesn't really show the true scale of the size of the boot and rear seats. Would they be large enough for a stupidly sized pram and kiddie seat?

Cheers.
The boot isn't massive unfortunately. I never tried getting a pram in there, but I wouldn't feel confident of getting a decent sized one is. The aperture is narrow for a start, and there's much less space in there than in a Focus, Golf or an Astra. Legroom isn't great either IMO.

Well I have never had to get a pram in before but I have often fitted my grandads wheel chair in the boot with room to spare so it's not to bad smile

Might be better if you guys looked at a 5dr 147 as the pictures are from a 3dr 147!

Congrats.

I've had a Black 146ti, a Grey Phase-1 145 Cloverleaf and a very rare Cosmos Blue Phase-2 145 Cloverleaf with Tan Leather....in my Alfa years!

Picture of my last 145 and 147 GTA together in my profile.

Loved my Phase 2 with the leather, but theres something appeals to me more about the almost retro hot hatch look now with the Phase 1s...... the 2s just tried to modernise a dated car for the 99-01 years.

Would certainly buy another.....possibly for a track toy.

The 1.8s can be a good option too as there is not much difference in BHP to the 2.0s!

Unfortunately I'm now running a 1.6 147 5dr, after owning another GTV for 9 months I decided I wanted a bigger Alfa with slightly lower running costs.

Top car and at 600quid a bit of a bargain. I, or rather my wife, ran one of these for a couple of years and i think they are very underrated. I'm hoping to get another one myself next year....

Cracking car, had one a few months ago as a temporary runner, sold it and starting to wish I hadn't... They do seem to be utter bargains at the moment, I bought mine for a measly £510 (though it wasn't in half as good nick as this one).

OP, what do you think of the driving position? That was one of things I wasn't so keen on with mine.

The driving position could be a tad better, but coming from a newer Alfa to an older one I thought it would be worse!
