Picked this up last weekend. Hasn't seen a dry road since then so not got any good photos. Just a few off my phone.

The day i collected it...

And since then...

And then the snow came...

More than I had planned on posting but oh well. Opinions welcomed.

Cheers, Ian

Very nice - not often you see such a straight, standard STi these days

one tip I will give. DO NOT OPEN THE ROOF SCOOP AT SPEED. It will take off your fingers and snap and dent the roof. Well mine did. Its fine to have open at speed just make sure the act of opening it occurs at 30mph or less. Brilliant litle thing in the summer though.

I agree, check the seals and regularly tighten up the bracket and hinge to ensure it locks tight and has no play when it's open (the flap is okay up to about 80mph)

Thanks for the advice chaps. It's a brilliant little thing in the winter too it would seem. DCCD seems to help massively. Taking it easy for now though seeing as I've been used to a diesel vectra. There is quite a difference in power.

Really? 80mph? Heard it was more like 40-50? Not something I would want to try anyway!

Do all of the 'RA' models have a roof scoop? I've been browsing the classifieds looking at them but some of them don't seem to have the scoop, e.g;

Pretty sure all the STi-RAs have it (for homologation) but only V-ltd STi-Rs. Not sure about WRX-RAs.

You do see a lot of misadvertising though - people claiming/thinking their car is an STi-RA whether its a normal STi, WRX, WRX-RA or one of the various other limited editions. The only real way to tell is from the chassis code, though DCCD is a major giveaway too - if it doesn't have DCCD its not an STi-RA.

I'm not sure that either of those are actually STi-RAs - first one looks like a WRX-RA ltd and second maybe a regular STi.

Try www.type-ra.co.uk for a forum dedicated to them.

thumbup Looking good, should be a hoot in the snow too.

Have to say if I could only have one car I'd most likely be in an RA myself, as it is Legacy + MX5 covers a wider range of talents so I'm still happy. wink
