Andy, if you're ever struggling don't hesitate to give this guy a call. He's clearly a dab hand at the old composite forming... Could certainly teach you a few things about how to model those ever so useful strengthening ripples into your panels!

holy mother of god. It would actually be better if he stated what a bloody mess the body was and concentrated on the engine etc. If that's what it looks like on the outside....http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/201257584549?cmd=VIDESC
Hi Andy
I have just started reading your modification (well it's a build really) thread on your Noble.
I have a few questions from the first page, so I apologise if you have already covered them in later parts of this topic.
On your fuel tank, can you tell me what you have used to seal the lid of the tank to the body? Fuel plays hell with seals in my experience.
I see you have some hoses in the tank immersed in fuel. Have you had any issues with the ethanol in petrol attacking them? What are they made of?
The reason for my questions is that I am thinking of building a large swirl pot with immersed pump, filter and regulator on my Ultima to simplify the plumbing.

After just finding this topic this morning and being astounded by this car I then saw it at the autosport show when I got there! Even better in the flesh.
Thanks, most people thought it was wrapped.... I overheard a large number exclaim it was a wrap as they could see the edges and joins lolIt wound my missus up a lot and it was entertaining seeing her storm over to put them right lol

I had an issue with the first rubber I used to seal the top, it was bought as fuel proof, but turned out it was simply fuel resistant... it disintegrated and car smelt of fuel.... I then replaced it with 'proper' fuel resistant rubber and its perfect years later, i put a sample in a jar of fuel and its still intact (after first failure I wasn't so trusting lol)
The fuel hose was bought as submersible fuel hose so is meant for the job... I run 2 lifters (which have sock filters on) good for over 1000bhp direct into the swirl pot in the tank, I have a hole at the top to release the pressure so that they are always free flowing but it does give a small amount of pressure in the pot... I had to direct it as the overflow of fuel was actually quite noisy.
I then run 2 044's outside the tank both fed by the huge Pot... then into a fine aeromotive filter and then the rail.
Like the Ultima packaging was a key factor in the way I designed it all.... I also wanted it to be bullit proof
Small update... over the last year I have been designing my own seat, its my own shape so its been quite a lot of work and i finally finished the buck around a month ago and I started making moulds.
Pulled the seat a little over a week ago and hurriedly upulstered it in leather myself much to the amusement of my skeptical Wife
Its turned out extremely comfortable, for me. I tried various 'expensive' seats at the autosport show that inspired me to make my seat (as I loved how comfortable and yet supportive they were but couldn't afford the £2k + price tags lol) and I came away very pleased
end product
out of the mould and bonded together, its a 2 part seat and extremely stiff... much stiffer than the selection of different cobra FIA seats I have including a carbon one.

I don't have any pictures during the making of the buck... it went through various stages of fiberglass with copious amounts of filler,I even took moulds from some of these stages and the end product was a cut and shut from a number of these stage.
here is the final buck that i took initial moulds from

Only minor jobs to do on the noble now... Got a couple of things to make in carbon, wing uprights, interior bits.... Started to recon the brakes, new hard lines and braided lines and new master cylinder... Searching for an upgrade for the engine coils and going to fit better injectors then get it mapped for these, unlikely to search for more power (although I have always had M800GTT on retention just in case lol).
So other that video clips and pictures there isn't going to be many interesting updates to this thread lol... As has been pointed out, I have started a new project to keep my brain working :-)
