rs500 esque ref is to paint sorry for misleading some of you,i knew from the start of this project it would be a love it or hate it look , as it happens i neither love it or hate it ,i am not particularly fond of any particular make of car at all ,all cars are is a means to an end to get around its what they were invented for origionally not for posing in or racing ,these later 2 are simply by products .all a car is to me is a tool for the purpose it could be anything as long as it corners ,brakes and accelerates well ,all im after is the thrill if youve never been on track the rush is awesome.so with this said i know its a bit heavy going(sorry) . to answer a few queries thesunstrip exists from when the car was silver (may change color anyway) its that deep because the cobra suzuka s seat is only 2 inchs of the floor ,so you dont bang your helmet on the roll cage and to keep centre of gravity low in car this aids handling (study touring cars ) try driving acar with a roll cage in with no sun visors, sunglass and a peaked helmet alone will not keep the sun out of your eyes ,bonnett vents are there to get rid of heat try running an engine aT 7000 RPM constantly, heat needs to be managed ,all the negative comments about this car are purely aesthetically based ,this car was built and is used regularly for purpose rather than pose so everthing is there for a reason wether it looks good or not ,thanks for all your comments ,constructive critisism is always good ,its abit of a marmite car really you either love it or hate it regards trackracer
will put some more photos on soon
I like your stance mate, also love the car!! I have considered one of these as a track weapon a few times and when funds allow i will probably be going down the Clio route. I have seen so many buzzing around big money, big power cars at Combe they just seem made for the job out of the box!

Quite like it again apart from the sunstrip, if it were me and i needed one that big i'd have it in black

also tend to think if i were doing that much work on a car i'd be doing it with a purpose like competing in hillclimbs, srpints etc rather than just tracking it, each to his own though!

I actually quite like it, sunstrip and all!

I'm finding some of the negative comments disappointing though.

I like it.

I'll have another 182 as soon as i can afford to have 2 cars just for me instead of the family.I say 2 as i need to replace my XR3 with an RS1600i in the coming year.

Great little track car, looks well thought out. About as much to do with an RS500 as a pink pigeon though....

Shame the Ford marketing idiots decided to ruin a legend by sticking the name/badge on a wrong wheel drive shopping trolley!

I like it, even the sunstrip! Mine was like that at one point, because as people should know, your pretty much sat on the floor, vision about an inch or so above the wheel so i could only see the suspension turret area of my bonnet so you can point the apex. Besides who the hell cares about what it looks like, its a track car - function over form!

I like it. Personally I'd have the sunstrip in black/grey but I don't think it's too much of a problem. As the guy says, it's for a purpose, so I'm with him. If it was a mahoosive red sunstrip on a Max Power style Clio 1.1 I'd have a different opinion but I know how difficult it can be to try and keep the sun out of your eyes with a cage and no sunvisors. Thumbs up!
