Defender V8 project
Discussion
Not everyone's cup of tea on here but it's a V8 so i thought it might interest some of you. The plan is for a complete strip down to the chassis and then put it back together hopefully. Sorry but some of the photo's are not the best due to I-Phone pic's.
Day one collecting the 90.
At the time of purchase i has no where to store the 90 so it was put in my mates barn for the best part of a year.
Moved house and have a double garage to play in so brought her to her new home and started taking her apart.
Needs the usual attention including the bulkhead and rear cross member.
Thanks for looking.

They are great cars and that rear crossmember looks familiar lol.
Are you keeping the original chassis or upgrading to a galvanised one?
Theres lots of great people for advice on the www.landytown.com forum.

The plan is to get the original chassis blasted and see how bad it is. So far it seems better than i was expecting but!!! we will have to see. If it is good enough to keep i will repair it and have it galvanized.
I have had a good look at Richards chassis at a show and was very impressed. I have already had a quotation from them and if I go down that route i will get one from them.
I want to try and keep as much as possible so I am planning on having the bulkhead acid dipped and repaired.
The only thing that I am unsure about at the moment is do i paint it the same colour or go for something different? I am not into the big suspension lift, cheque plate and massive tyre size style so thinking original colour. I am along way off this point so not to worried.
Thoughts?

hi there
best of luck with your project. I've just about finished my similar Defender project (I say "I've" but that's a bit of a lie cos I've had a lot of work done by others and I've just done a few bits) but it's taken some time and can't wait to drive her now.
When it's finished in the next few weeks, I will upload some pics of the transformation if you like. Mine started as a 1992 200 Tdi cab and is now a 4 litre V8 monster. Also changed colour. As a few others recommended you to, I also had the chassis exchanged for a new Richards galvanised one.
If you're not into the big wheel thing, you prob won't like my one! New wheels and tyres arrived yesterday and I'm just working out if I've gone a bit OTT and got them a bit too big or not! Gone from 265s to 37x14.5x16s LOL! They are HUGE! (it's not my car in the background)
If it's finished in time, I'm hoping to go to the Oxford PH event at the end of Jan in it
