330ci Clubsport
Discussion
Hi,
I've just picked up a 2003 BMW 330ci Clubsport. 56k miles, xenons and HK speakers. It's only half leather though so I'm on the hunt for a new interior. Only issues are that it needs a service, wheels could do with a refurb and it needs new rear tyres (although these were factored into the purchase price).
It's quite a step up from the 1996 VW Golf (1.8 GL) that it's replacing (and considering I'm only 21 the insurance wasn't too bad, only a couple of hundred pounds more than what I paid to insure the Golf last year!)
Future plans (for now...)
- Full leather
- Exhaust (nothing excessive, just to make it sound a bit deeper)
- PH sticker on the back window

Disconnect the solenoid behind the left hand side taillight for a deeper exhaust note, achieves the same as the 'golf tee mod' but without disconnecting hoses... End result is the exhaust flap stays open all the time and you get a deeper note for free! (find it drones myself but lots of people like it)
Great car, I have a pre-facelift non CS 330Ci, stepped from a 306 HDi to it so a similar power jump to yourself at a similar age, insurance is reasonable despite the high grouping. Oh and good tyres are essential (FK452's) as the ditchfinders mine came with were a liability!

As for Tyres I have vredestriens sessante on the rear and they are spot on.

Slightly off-topic, but what did they change with the facelift, apart from the front lights shape?
The rear lights were changed to l.e.d.'s The front and rear bumpers were also changed. I think in 2002 (before the facelift arrived) the steering rack was made sharper, and from owning old shape and new shape they improved a few other suspension components also. There were also a few electrical niggles they took care of and the door handle issue prevalent on pre '03 models was sorted.
Also, the exhaust note is far deeper on facelift 6 cylinder models compared to prefacelift; I drove both pre and post facelift 330ci's and the post 330 has a much deeper thrum at idle. The 6 speed box doesn't improve the driving experience, in fact it takes away from it slightly; though that is my opinion.
