I can't be sacked to search for it so I'm just asking here.

Does anyone know wether JamieP actually got to 1000bhp in his Supra?
Almost although I think he has had 2 new engines built for this year so I imagine it will have now

280 bhp at 5,350 rpm.... 800 at 6,700! That's er, a bit of a transition - must be somewhat 'interesting' to drive! Imagine coming out of a corner on the throttle at say, 5,500... yikesbiggrindrivingeekbiggrin

On that note, what sort of HP can you run to a reasonably reliable extent on something like a supra?

Heres a few picts. The attempt on the Cosworth Topspeed record will take place in February/March 2011. Target figure is 215mph in the confines of Brunters a feat achieved by only 4 road cars.

This is the baby I remember from the days of reading Performance Ford. That turbo is truly and utterly gigantic. Wasn't the car also featured on Fifth Gear once upon a time Rod?

Yes it ran 206mph in the wet against Tiff in his Lotus that managed 176mph. The car was 680bhp + 150 Nitrous so a whole chunk of Power more now.

watch the ending its classic, quote of the year - "To be honest, you got beat fair and square, because there was a geezer out there in a cardigan, he was driving one-handed, doing 206 mile an hour in a white Sierra."

Please don't take this the wrong way, but why so little power, relatively speaking (without NO2) - what's the limiting factor at the moment, is it a budget thing or an attempt to maintain an element of reliability or drive-ability or are you at the limits of the block?

400+ bhp/litre doesn't sound like 'little' for a production-based engine, does it?

As I said "relatively". Rod's car is built for top speed, and in that game power is everything.

There are lots of 2l engines that are putting out over a 1000bhp these days - Norris' 950bhp Evo, Jack Frost's Haybusa bike at 760bhp and 1300cc, and there is a Greek Evo which is aiming for 2000bhp, which has been built up using bespoke billet titanium parts - crank, pistons, rods, valves, etc.

I was wondering what the limiting factor is - cost, limiting component, or the fact that using NO2 limits how much you can make on race fuel?
