long time lurker thought it was about time i posted some pics of the fleet

currently have a mk3 scirocco GT and mk 5 Golf GTI Pirelli, both ordered having never seen one in the flesh in 2008

picture not long after they arrived and what the rocco used to look like

GTI is one of 222 official UK Pirellis and is the sensible motor all be it running a Revo Stage 1 map

the Scirocco started life as a stock GT and now looks like this, the theme is fast road and hoping to do more track days this year

some pics from a day at Bruntingthorpe with Revo for a feature with Eurotuner

Rocco mods include:

Revo Stage 2 map
Milltek/Volkswagen Racing TBE
ITG CAI
Volkswagen Racing Short Shift
Sachs Clutch
Volkswagen Racing Lower Subframe Mount
KW Springs (car still looks too high imho)
Volkswagen Racing Spec TD Pro Race 1.2s in Satin Graphite 18x8 (bought for go)
carbon fibre wrap

currently waiting for a set of Porsche 4 pots to arrive and KW coilers and ARBs will be on for the spring

thanks for looking

Fantastic Line up thumbup

Gti is rather dicrete but still fairly rare which makes a change from other limited editons Euro Manufacturers produce ..... Good ol' Germans eh.

the Sirocco Looks epic fun with the sensible Revo upgrade and other relevant mods thumbup

Sorry, I have to ask, but what made you spend circa £50k on two new cars that are essentially the same underneath?

I'm not knocking either car in anyway (I especially like the Mk V) it's just that sort of money buys some serious metal. If I had that sort of money I'd probably have bought a year old E90 M3 for fun and a 2 or 3 year Octavia VRS as the sensible choice.

Normally hate how the Scirocco looks, however yours looks superb, really menacing and business-like smile

cheers for the comments guys, given the Golf does around 15k a year and Rocco 20k a year both need to be reasonably sensible, ironically i was going to by a 3 and 5 door Pirelli originally

you make a valid point Gachet given the cost of motoring its looking like a Fita 500 twin air will be joining the household as it pays its own way, a cool honest little car, this means i can have more fun with the rocco and hopefully get some 5 pot audi fun next year

new brake set up for the rocco has arrive porsche 4 pots which have been refinished together with some mk5 GTI rears and j hook disks, fronts will be running Mintex 1144 hence the shims, rears will have oem VW pads, brake guru Dave Brown did the refurbishment work on them

quick shot of front disc after some tlc

the freshly finished rears

looking like some KW ARBs will go on with these in the frist instance before some coilies

the arrival of the Pootle the Fiat 500 http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... has meant a few more bits and bobs have been done to the scirocco

first up brakes were installed

decided to pop along to see the legend that is Charlie at Surrey Rolling Road so see what sort of power its making and some decent mid range torque

given the rocco has acc a KW deletion kit was aquiired

next step was coilovers and decided for the Volkswagen Racing KW v1 Inox set up as have firmer setting than stock V1s and in reality i'd never change the set up if i went v3s, my mistake was asking them to drop it a further 10mm lol

decided to test these out at a MSV novice night at Bedford Autodrome where i was fortunate to meet some fellow Pistonheaders and have a great night and was impressed with how the car performed (all be it mintex pads took a kicking lol)

i've raised it a little since then and its it a bit more compliant, given the car is running a lot of torque and on the firm side was getting some horrible vibrations through the stock engine and gear box mount so added the Volkswagen Racing ones in addition to the subframe mount i'd been running, car has some grrr but is way better and more controlled and move livable

final piece of the suspension mods went on in the form of some Volkwagen Racing ARBs which are set soft on the front

not tested this in action but car is nice and progressive, 1,500 miles around France confirmed its a great road car which can take a bit of track action which is what i wanted and hoping to get out for a track session soon

Looks awesome, plus with that kind of power I should think it's usefully quick on road and track. Nice

I believe it's a connector of some kind that disables the ACC (magnetic dampers) and enables coilovers to be fitted.
