Very sorry to be about your brother OP, but finishing the car will be such a fitting tribute to him. Good luck with it.

So sorry to hear of your loss mate, very fitting tribute, wish you all the best with the project and fund-raising, very commendable way for you to deal with it and I'm sure all the motivation you need to follow through with it.

Thankyou all for your kind message of support! We have managed to find an engine for the car! It's had lots of money spent on it and comes with gear box, wiring looms ecu etc etc, found it on eBay so am hoping it turns up as described by the seller! You can see it running if the following link works!

The engine in the video is the one we have just purchased on eBay, hopefully in a few weeks it will be running in sam's corsa (the white one).

Well the engine has arrived! It's still on the pallet but got a couple of pics to share:

The plan is to this week take the gearbox off and have it looked at, the guy we bought it from said it was whining in 5th gear, then all being well we will take the current engine out and prep the engine bay ready to be sprayed.

Whining in fifth is often the diff rather than the gearbox on many cars, not sure if it's similar on these.

Cracking project and a wonderful way to remember your brother

An awful lot of people have dabbled in their youth, it really is lottery, sorry your bro was unlucky but well done for dealing with it in a brilliant way and keeping his memory alive...

I was certainly no angel when I was his age, the difference being I grew out of it and am still here to tell the tale!
I'm sure this wasn't the first time he had taken drugs but I'm guessing whatever he took combined with the alcohol he had consumed during his birthday celebrations sadly took thier toll on him and cost him his life. It made quite big news locally, newspapers and radio etc, so we can only hope it makes other youngsters think twice about the effects of taking drugs.

Without wishing to get too personal as well as the car, make sure your folks know how prevalent it is and that he wasn't bad and they didn't do anything wrong

Sorry if this sounds condescending or is too personal I only say it after seeing friends parents eat themselves up after their son died wondering where they went wrong, anger at him etc

Sorry to bring the thread down a touch, back to the car and pics, when can we see the graphics? smile

I think the wheels are speedlines? Never been a vauxhall person myself but it was sam's pride and joy so the bonnet is staying I'm afraid!
