This is my new BMW 318ci, it is the later 318 which confusingly has the 2.0 16v engine. I'm really pleased with it, it is a great everyday cruiser, superbly comfy and well equipped and a lovely colour combination. And it is a interesting partner for my E30 318is very different... yet very similar.
Very nice, loving the colour combo and interior finish, how many miles are on it.
Any pics of the E30 318is, a good friend of mine races an E30 320i in the PBMWC and keeps telling me to get one but a slightly lowered 318is would be perfect for me, check cloth interior looks so cool now.

Orient Blue, I once had a coupe in that colour.
There are some giudes on my site http://www.mwstewart.co.uk/cars/ that may help if you decide to start 'playing' with it.

Thanks for the good comments.. this is my E30. It has got a very similar feel to the E46 in terms of power delivery and general character, but the E30 is so much more of a raw driving experience. and supprisingly it is only about 10bhp down on the E46 despite 200cc and 13 years difference!Any pics of the E30 318is, a good friend of mine races an E30 320i in the PBMWC and keeps telling me to get one but a slightly lowered 318is would be perfect for me, check cloth interior looks so cool now.

How are you finding the performance of the E46? Do you think it is as bad as some people would have you believe?
Definitly not! don't get me wrong.. it is certainly no ball of fire but the performance is better than i expected. i was originally looking for a 6-cyl 320 with th 2.2 engine and test drove a few, but this car came up which was exactly the colour/trim combination and spec that i wanted so i went to have a look expecting to be disapointed by the performance of the 4-cyl but it was quite the opposite.. i was impressed! It is more than quick enough for an everyday car, admittedly if it was my only car i would go for a 6-cyl, but i have got the MR2 and E30 for weekend driving thrills!

I feel exactly as you do with my Sport ('04 facelift). I too was looking for a 320 but, like you, found the right spec./condition car in 318 form.I have a friend who's had two 325CI sports, the first one bought at 40k and he ran it to 220,000 miles with no problems at all, the second again bought at 40k and currently upto 150,000 miles and again no problems.
Due to a couple of redundancies in the past year my toys had to go but as soon as the funds allow I'll be on the lookout for a 330CI, don't think you can beat the way they wear they miles so discreetly.

Both fantastic steers mate!
I've owned two 318ci's, two 325's and one 330; I still miss the 330...
The 318 has a certain chuckability that the 6 cylinder models don't have; when you throw it into a corner it is less likely to bite. By far the best balanced; particularly in non sport spec. To summarise you have a perfect example! Keep the 16's or if needs be got to 17's. Just don't go for 18's. Your arse will thank you later (oo-er).
