Quite like the Z3 would be opting for an 'M' though .....
The M52B28 is actually a pretty good match for the Z3 chassis - and performs better than the equivalent E36 328 Coupe - by the sounds of it, you've never driven one, so I guess you wouldn't know - you're obviously one of these peeps that can't see past an ///M badge. rolleyes still at 17 I was probably the same..
Then why put M badges on yours..?

Jesus - another useless post.. I didn't put ///M badges on mine.. I put ///M side gills on (the badges are part of the gills) - I've explained above why I kept the ///M badges on the gills. It was either put them on or leave the recess where they go (as I wasn't filling them). the reason I put the //M gills on was because I liked the chrome dart on them, which I thought went well with the front grills and wheels.

If I wanted to make mine look like a Z3M then I surely would have stuck an ///M badge on the boot as that's where the official model designation for BMW's reside or is that to complicated for you to comprehend? Mine is FAR from looking like a Z3M replica for a start its lacking all these parts:

No ///M dual exit twin exhausts
No ///M front bumper
No ///M interior (apart from the factory ///M steering wheel)
No ///M rear boot lid
No ///M rear bood lid panel
No ///M boot badges
No ///M dials
No ///M brake calipers

Oh yeah and the kicker - Z3M's were NEVER available in MONTREAL BLUE from the factory!! not to mention that I would have changed the front lower control arm bushes to give it more caster like a 'real' Z3M when I was overhauling the suspension if that was my aim.. rolleyes Maybe I should nip out and hack the ///M badge off my steering wheel as well rolleyes

To be fair OP, I think you took the original comment a little thick, and were perhaps OTT in your response - I don't think any offence was intended.

With that said, I love your Z3. And I wouldn't consider myself a huge fan of them, generally. I don't think they dated particularly well, but you've brought yours right up to date, and all while remaining very subtle.

I'd certainly drive one if it looked like yours!

I have driven the z3 2.8 and found it a very nice drive, and certainly quick enough.I dont know why they are not better received, just for the straight six alone.

Must say yours is the best i have seen, well done clap

Love it i think these have aged rather well (a hell of alot better than the e36)

Just not a big fan on the wheels, I think they would look a bit more at home on a 5 series or the like. A sportier set are in need i feel maybe some BBS? Some wide CH would look pretty awesome. Ps the side grills are a big improvement on stock one of the best mods i feel.

Regarding the M badge does'nt 95% of anything BMW produce come complete with M badge to make the prats in the diesel rep mobiles feel better about their life?

Keep up the good work.

Something you always get on pistonheads. Always...'Why didnt you just by the (insert top spec here)?'

I know everyone on here is a millionaire.......But doesnt it occur to people that the specific person bought the specific car for a reason? They might not be able to insure one. They might not be able to afford services/repairs/tyres/brakes etc. The tax might be more than a lesser spec. They might do lots of miles and dont want the fuel bills. Believe it or not, they might not have enough money to buy the thing in the first place.

Contry to this, i have the top spec of my car! But im starting to regret it. Everything is stupidly expensive for a hatch back. Big brembos, tyres, tax etc

Your Z3 looks great, loving the colour and wheels!

I've got a Red 2.8 myself which is std, compared to yours looks like a different car lol.

You'll never please all of the people all of the time, but if youre happy with the mods thats all that matters thumbup

That is a very nice looking z3, the wheels look really smart, the only thing I don't like, is the bumper cut out above the exhaust, but that could be easily rectified, apart from that-its one of the best looking examples I have seen.

My mum really likes Z3's, shes had about 3 of them (all 2.8s, like yours). I'll have to send her a link to this, she'll love it smile

I think you've done really well with the car, looks lovely and shiny smile

One of the best Z3 I have seen!

Wheels suit the car very very well and I think a lot has to do with how the car has been lowered.

Only 2 things I'd change:

1. Cut a large whole in the rear skirt and fit the exhaust a little higher so it fills the gap;

2. Colour code the hardtop

Apart from that it is absolutely spot on!!

Forgot all this nonsense of 'I'd rather an Z3M etc...' for Gods sakes man this is a 2.8 in a little 2 seater BMW! It will shift !! Well done to the Op

Nice car OP. Not so keen on the wheels, however I like the rest of it.

Stunning car, like a young Burt Reynolds. I really like the 2.8's, what sort of mpg do you get from it?

It is a good looking car. I like the mods you have made, but like original ones too. They are a hugely underrated car on PistonHeads. I don't understand that since they have possess all the ingriedients of a 'PistonHeads' car. There are a lot of sheep on PH though, you just have to read the cobblers written about Rovers to see that.

Nice car, OP, I approve! biggrin

Looks good, the interior an exterior colour schemes work well and i actually rather the black hardtop - it does look particularly mean.

I to would sooner have one of these to a mx5/mr2/mgf!

Wow... suspension and wheels can make such a big difference! Perfect example of that!

From looking a bit soft and girly (imo) it now looks bloody hard.

Nice car mate.

Thanks for all of the constructive replies (good and bad!) wink !! smile

Wheels are probably one of the most subjective styling mods you can make to a car and I know that my choice is a bit marmite. The main reason I got them was due to the fact I wanted my car to be relatively individual/unique - at the time I got them I was only the second Z3 in Europe to have them and the only wide body Z3 (as the other Z3 was a 1.9 in Finland) so there wasn't exactly a lot of visual references out there for me to go on and it was a bit of a gamble! - when they eventually arrived from the States (12 weeks later) and I got them on the car I was very happy with my choice. I think they suit the overall look of the car quite well and I'm very happy with them. smile

FWIW I also still have the original lightweight stock 16" five spokes in the garage which will eventually be getting shod in new rubber for track days when I get round to it. smile
