My first MX-5, 1.8 Euphonic
Discussion
Evening All
I’ve purchased my 2nd car ever! An ‘04’ plate Mazda MX-5 1.8 Euphonic Special Edition in Velocity Red.
Going to tick over to 43000 miles tomorrow, already managed 90 miles since 1pm today!
Very happy with it, really having lots of fun. Have had the roof of for most of the 90 miles, it did rain a bit but otherwise I have cold ears and a big grin . It still has the original Sony X-Plod head unit complete with remote (in a 2 seat car?!). Has got FSH with the previous owner taking it to Portugal and Spain last summer.
Already trying to look at small mods to make it my own and a few essentials to just tidy it up. I really like the alloys, quite different to a standard 5.
Only managed a few pictures earlier and nothing fancy, will post up some more when I can find time, a suitable location and have given it a decent wash.
Hope you like it!

Mine is in titanium silver and has done about 40k too.
I absolutely love mine.
So far I have put a K&N panel filter on, white side reflectors (which BTW would look brilliant on your red 5) and its going for a proper geometry session at Nigel Langs in Bolton tomorrow as mines a bit skittish at Motorway speeds.
How much do the Euphonic wheels weigh compared to the standard items?

Thanks for the comments.
I am really chuffed, I love the looks and it is so much fun to drive.
I'm 22 so I don't know how keen insurers would be to lowering springs, Koni/Eibach are best?
May change the gear stick for a slightly larger one and do the side repeaters. I think a PH smiley is needed too.

A guy on Nutz is just selling his, he reckons they're about 8kg each (but wasn't entirely sure). If you do a bit of digging around on the forums I'm sure you'll find the answer somewhere. In fact here's some places for starters:http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8...

I believe that they are Enkei alloys, so if you know the name of the them you might be able to find it in one of the lists.

The alloys are the 2002 SE, second from the bottom picture on that website, they are the heaviest alloy at 18lb which is indeed just over 8kg. I dont care about the weight on mine because they do look brilliant. Here is a couple of pictures of mine, I have since put on the white side reflectors. I think there was only 2000 euphonics made as well.http://www.miata.net/faq/wheel_weights.html

Ive now had the Wheels in Motion fast road set up applied at Nigel Langs garage in Bolton. What a difference it has made to the car - the steering feels much 'tighter' and the car feels grippier in general, its like driving a new car. I was given a before and after printout and 75% of the measurements were in the red beforehand. I would seriously consider going for a geometry session also if you want the best from the car. The only issue I have with the car now is to get rid of the 'Hero' ditchfinder tyres and fit a nice new set of balanced boots.

wow, I like that drove a mates mk2.5 the other day, was a real hoot blasting over to the pub in the sun with the roof down.
Annoyingly though, at just over 6ft, I'm a little too tall and the wind buffets my hair slightly which really, really annoys me lol.
lovely car
Thanks for the appreciation. Done over 250 miles now! I'm bang on 6ft and yes the wind plays tricks with my hair but, what the hell, its too much fun.Annoyingly though, at just over 6ft, I'm a little too tall and the wind buffets my hair slightly which really, really annoys me lol.

Waiting for some better weather to give it a proper clean.
