Just bought this for £540 including two spare bonnets and a radio for the journey home. Our plan is to strip it out and do little bit of fettling with the brakes and suspension to improve the handling. We will then use it for track days with a view to doing a few competitive races/hillclimbs.

The paint lacquer on the roof has peeled off quite badly but we're not too fussed about this as we are planning to cut the sunroof out and replace with a plate so it will be getting resprayed at some point.

We're also planning on replacing the ridiculous exhaust and the air filter it came with to something less restrictive.

Should be a reasonably cheap car to build and should go like stink!

Nice.... I know the 106's and rallyes etc are quick-ish when fettled and driven properly ... but more to the point huge fun.

Had a few experiences with 106's at Castle Combe........ that don't get out your way :@

Keep us posted with upgrades etc thumbup

how much would the sunroof panel cost?

we're starting to strip the car down at the end of this week, and will be fixing any rust which we can find which should be minimal as we checked the whole car over before buying it. Next job will be a full service and then we might just use it as it is replacing wheels, tyres etc as we go.

Have a good poke about the boot floor/inner arch join including behind the arch liners.

Looks like a good buy! Fun little cars; I ended up buying one last year that came up locally very cheap as a short project, another itch scratched and all that. A few weekends of work and she was MOT'd and frequenting my favourite B-roads smile

Only mine has this lurking under the bonnet:

Soon to be for sale though and someone will get a bargain. Good luck with it!

I had one of these (in the same colour) as my first car nearly 11 years ago. I do like a good 106.

I recognise that car!! I was the one that did the conversion! great to see its still running, with what looks to be the same engine smile

Spent hours building the engine up from scratch! How did you come by it?? Any more photos??
