1972 VW Beetle
Discussion
Nice super Beetle (bar the misfitted early bumpers).
I'd check out that rust at the rear ends of the guttering and around the rear quarter 'half moon' vents as it means the expanding foam in the void between the inner and outer skins (only found in '71 onwards models) is getting wet and eating through the bodywork from the inside.
1303s are a bit unloved in VW circles but they are certainly not without their merits, especially their IRS rear suspension and front machperson struts. Check out http://www.germanlook.net/forums/ for a bit of '03 love.
Enjoy the learning curve!

Been tinkering with the bug and working on it quite a lot lately. Just little bits and peices till a bit more money comes available
New sticker
Decided I didnt like that parcel shelf so removed and use the standard one which meant doing lots of wiring.
Which resulted in me touching my metal watch on the main battery terminal and really burning my wrist
Also replaced the rear lights, much better!!
Grrr found this big hand print on it to after it being parked up all day at Oulton. Wasnt amused.
New tinware for the engine bay
ALso polished up all the chrome
and that is where I am upto at the moment! Loving every minute of driving it though Gets loads of attention and is just nice to drive.
Thanks,
Matt

good stuff. I'm a bit older but in a few years time I reckon my little un will be in a Beetle, cool and insurable - how old are you BTW, £600 sounds a very good premium.
19 yrs old with 1yr no claims Very good on fuel to. Cheshire to leeds and back again and a day running around so about 180-200 miles from 20 pound Bit of a update. Just doing a few bits and peices here and there currently as money isnt something I have lots of sadly! Next few important things on my list are new front axle with discs on, get it rolling road-ed to make sure the engine is running properly as I have to heal and toe it to keep it idling currently. Then a new gear stick and slecetor as currently its a paul daniels gearbox. You waggle then wand then magically a gear appears! Anyway, some pictures.
Arty farty pic
Found a friend in a local car park
Whole new back seat, 2 new doors and a new fuel plug thingy for £26! Bargain.
We then took the glass out of said doors and replaced the one peice windows as they looked naff and didnt work Only done drivers side so far.
And the new back seat in

The rear lights were standard on the 1303 "super beetle", which I think yours is. The front windows might even be original too, but I'm not geeky enough to tell. The other that makes me think it's a 1303 s that the rear suspension isn't showing any camber - usually one wheel's on the piste on the swingaxle cars!
Will take a stand back and wait for a more geeky VW expert to confirm though.
Beetle geek here. Definitely a 1303 with the wrong bumpers. 1302 had a flat front screen as opposed to the curved one on this 1303.Will take a stand back and wait for a more geeky VW expert to confirm though.
Front windows have been bodged at some stage.
