Just before this thread gets moved.....there's a chap putting a V8 into a mk.1 (and making an awesome job of it). He's also got a bimmer V12 engine.....

Congrats on the progress. Should be an awesome weapon when finished.

Good luck with the build its crazy - please Remember to put Some pictures up after the crash - and with that much weight out the back it will spit you off the road.

How are you going to connect the gearbox on it, the flywheel already looks about level with where the diveshafts would normally come out?

EDIT-

Actually on the overhead pic it looks like the gearbox will stick out the back of the car.

You'll get no abuse here for that kind of tomfoolery.

Just requests for more pics, details and updates!

Good on you.

Hi Alex, nice project. Which gearbox you planning to use seeing as you have it so far rearwards? Or is it not fixed in place yet?

Have you spoken to Paul Woods over at TwoBrutal? He is working on a lexus V8 in his mk1 and offers V6 conversions as a turnkey service.

Fantastic thread, can't wait to see more! Sir, I salute you!

Although a different engine, this is worth a read. Shame he seems to have gone quiet as it was looking good. Have to admire the dedication!

I'm far to young to remember this V12 mini but can remember something my mum said about some (Jag??) V12 shoehorned in a mini, thought it was "type of thing your mum tells you when your little" and never believed it to be true! Not sure how she knew the car, though I as far as I know she was a regular at Santa Pod in the late 70's/early 80's. Think she may have ran a Frogeye, at the time but not too sure on this, either a Frog or a Mk.1 3.0 Capri.

Love to know if the Mini was for real or not.
