Hello Piston Heads!

I am looking for an old banger of a car, like an old Lada or similar. This car needs to work (be drivable) and be fully MOT'd and Taxed. Also needs to be in the Greater Manchester / NW region.

As I'm not "in the know" of where I can find one of these, any feedback would be very much appreciated! I thought here would be a very good start!

If you have a car/know somoeone with such a car, please let me know or send me a picture and I will be in contact!

Thanks for you help,

Fiona

Forgive me if I'm missing something obvious, but why? To buy or to hire, as above for film work etc?

Welcome smile

Hi all,

Yes indeed; it's needed for a small short film (nothing extreme is going to happen with it!) happening 3rd week of May!

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

yikes

That can't be real surely? Doubt it would pass any safety or emissions regulations.

Sorry I will try and be a specific as possible.

The car needs to be really old and scabby - the scene is a wedding scene and the only transport is this car, the bride is mortified!

Because this car will be driven it will need to be taxed etc, but it won't be going any long distances.

This car also needs to be in the Greater Manchester area is possible. I'm afraid these are all the details I have so any suggestions would be great!

Thanks

The last ones they imported to this country were blessed with engine management and fuel injection.

Didn't most UK Ladas get re-exported back to Mother Russia I seem to remember in the 90's the Russians where paying over the odds for them.

Many did but there's still a few about. I doubt there's very many not being ran by enthusiasts.

Not a Lada but I could definatly lend this :

1987 Suzuki Swift. Not that sheddy but a little rough around the edges. Fully MOTed and taxed. Drives etc. Rattles, knocks and bangs. It's white too so perfect for a wedding. Could even stick the original, broken mirrors back on for added crapness.

In Stoke so a perfectly doable distance.

Any financial reward?

Hi! Thanks for this! Indeed a great little car for what we're looking for; although if there was some rust and things hanging off that would be even better!

I will have to discuss with the team but will certainly be in touch if this is what they are looking for.

Unfortunately as this is a low budget short we can't offer any kind of financial reward, but you would get a mention in the credits and a copy of the film.

Thank again for all your help and input! I'll be back shortly!

There is a little bit of rust but not to the extent a camera would pick up. Making stuff fall off is easy enough though. I wouldn't mind unbolting stuff to make it look worse than it is etc. All good fun.

biggrin This car does have potential! My only concern is the colour, although it is great in context of a wedding, this usually is extremely difficult to film.

If the team do like this I will be in touch! Thanks again smile
