After reading through madrob6 thread, i decided my restoration may be of interest to some of you.
although i started in earnest,i have done very little to it since the snow started, but i intend motivating myself next weekend ,and getting stuck into it [ hopefully ].
the story so far goes as follows ; as i own and drive a 1979 porsche 924 on a daily basis,i was on the look out for a nicer interior for it,as luck would have it i came across a member on the irish porsche site who had stripped a 924 with the intention of doing a ground up restoration, but unfortunately ran into problems with his other 924 .
so i was offered the interior for a pittance,so needless to say i went to Galway and bought the complete interior while i was there he offered me the rest of the car for free as he had lost interest in doing it now.
so i went back over and picked it up,i have stripped it bare now and have the body in primer, and the underneath resprayed a totally rust free shell now,not that there was any rust on it to start with.
i then bought a porsche 944 as a non runner, replaced the ECU and one of the pick ups and away it went.
great engine, interior etc on it,so i am in the process of stripping the 944 and transplanting the whole lot into the 924,slow tedious work, sripping cleaning and painting, each component, but fortunately the weather is being kind for the moment.
i have made a bonnet scoop, front panel, rear wheel arch,my objective was to make a carrera gt replica, but i have sort of gone of that idea because i don't really want to have to cut into the original body so i am going to keep it fairly standard looking apart from a set of boxter alloys.
here's some pics of it.

the donor car

the daily driver.

as i said i am trying to get myself motivated to really get stuck in, but work and the unexpected are likely to slow me down,so if you have enough interest in following the progress albeit it will be slow, but it will be done in time.

Been there too. Although didn't go to the level you are planning to, just made good with the original paint work - Good luck.

Blimey that donor car is a bit confused isn't it? Later offset wheels, square dash, oval dash door cards.

Hope you find some motivation to get stuck in soon but please don't finish it before mine is back on the road wink

your 924 looks tidy stuart-b ,as for getting finished before you rob i very much doubt it,but then you might be surprised how quickly i could get over it ,weather permitting, along with the available finances.
yes it is a bit of a mixed bag,the previous owner spent a lot on it,so most of it is usable i hope the only issuei might have is fitting the front cross member, but i will worry about it when the time comes.
