Hi all,

I'm about to change the tyres on my 944. This is my frist tyre change since I bought the car so am after some opinions about which tyre works best for normal daily road use.

Cheers,

GoodYear Eagle F1 was good on mine a few years ago.

But run lower than book pressures on the rear as the centres tend to wear out first -a sure sign of over inflation.

In the time I had mine I ran RE71's, SO1's and SO2's (each rear set only lasted about 6000 miles). All fine..

I´ll second the Goodyear F1s. Great tyres.

I have SO1's on my S2. They're not grippy enough in the wet. I'm trying F1's next.
I run mine at 36 front and back. Rear at 44 was too bouncy.

Check with your insurance company. Some insurers esp. classic, will invalidate insurance if non porsche approved tyres are fitted.

Never heard of that clause before! But thanks for the info. I'll look it up on my policy.

At the moment, I'm more inclined towards buying P0's. (purely on the fact that i'm buying new wheels on Friday and the company selling the wheels has P0's and Falkens only)

Any reason why I should stay away from P0's for everyday use?

I had some on a Seat Cupra R and the fronts lasted 6k which I thought was pretty crap albeit it was quite a pokey FWD motor.

Have had Eagle F1's on an E30 M3 which were the mutts and my current faves are Michelin PS2's which are also the daddy, with harder rubber in the middle of the tyre for good wear and softer blocks on the outside edge for good grip.
