Hi,
Am looking to buy a 993. Have seen a few but particularly one the other day at a Porsche specialist, 78k on the clock, FPSH, 94-L RHD for 23,500. That sounds cheap from whatelse I've seen but is it? Is this about the starting price? Have looked at others but they are all around the £27K mark....
Cheers

This is about the price i've been finding in private sales, and some (non Porsche specialist) garages. It seems good value for a specialist. Ive just bought Peter Morgans Ultimate Buyers Guide and am finding it really useful. Hope this doesn't constitute advertising, (im in no way connected with the publisher)

Infact if you email me I'll post you my copy (if you promise to return it when done!)

That does seem quite cheap. There are usually reasons for cars being offered at lower prices, especially 911`s.
Check all the usual points, you can find most covered on these threads...
Good luck!

£24k is not cheap for a left hand drive car! I sold mine over 2.5 years ago for that price and that had 40k miles.
Porticraft have had some really nice RHD 993 from £26k onward. Always look to save 30% on a LHD over RHD.

doesn't hantstvr state it is a 1994 L registration right hand drive car?? sounds a fair deal a decent specialist inspection will either confirm this or make you glad you walked away. good luck

It does indeed seem reasonably priced. I would almost say suspiciously so. All things being equal I could see us buying the car in for the figure quoted.
That being the case you do have to question the reason guy is bothering to entertain his fellow private man, have the car inspected, risk losing the car to a fraudster and the like when 15 minutes after popping it over to us he could be walking away, his pockets bulging with cash!
As has already been mentioned there is rarely such a thing as a cheap Porsche so go steady and good luck.

993 prices are softening overall I think........its about time too as getting on for £30K in some cases for what is a 10 year old car is too much......I love the 993 but I think its appeal is now for the enthusiast only, due to its age, the trendy types have moved onto other cars which are a bit newer.

Surely a car is worth what people are willing to pay for it?
Generally (with the odd exception) there is no such thing as a cheap Porsche there is usually a good reason it is less expensive than alternatives. Usually due to accident / hear life or large expense pending e.g new clutch / tyres / engine condition.
If you want real value for money (and better selection) and are OK with LHD, as am I, suggest you visit www.mobile.de you will be shocked at the great value Porsches for sale in Germany.

Advertisments on Porche Post and 911 & PW are 99% private individuals with an unrealistic expectation of what their car is worth.
Why should Poorcardealer etc talk down car prices - they are traders after all - surely it is in their interest to talk up the value of cars...unless they are low on 993 stock of course

I was actually thinking of traders' advertisements.
There are often last model 993s in the high 30s and sometimes low 40s (largely mileage dependent).
Comparing asking prices (from a trader) for late 993s (i.e. 1997) with 1999 996s, similar mileage, FSH, i.e. all other things equal and often the 993 will be prices higher than the 996. I've seen it, I'm not making it up and it's been this way on prices between the two models for 2 or more years.
