Everything you say is correct - (non M030) CS is just a normal coupe with lowered springs, those lovely Recaro's and lots deleted. But for whatever reason these mods transformed the car. Ignore the biased CS owners and read the contemporary road tests. The 968 coupe wasn't very well received at all, but the journalists all raved about the CS - Performance car of the year, best handling car of the year etc etc. At the same time all the mags were slagging the 964 RS off as the worst 911 Porsche had built in years, so whose halo rubbed off on who ? (ducks with tongue firmly in cheek)

i havent seen any contemporary road tests as that was just before i started driving and discovered the way

pretty poor as i've got a load of mags and none with my car featured, need to get that brooklands book with the 968 reviews reprinted, worthwhile buy i take it?

You are so right - then along came the Subaru Impreza to redefine the term "hard ride" and track days suddenly became popular and lo and behold the 964 RS was the weapon of choice and all its faults were forgiven.
