On a wim, I have decided I desperately need a PORSCHE 959.

Can anyone point me to someone who is willing to sell theirs? I know I probably won't be able to get my hands on one, but you never know...

Can any of you help me???

Please e-mail me if you have any suggestions:

darren.darkins@e-file-uk.com

Thank you!!!

Yes I can and you can tell them I sent you as I could do with a discount !

Charles Ivey Specialist cars (www.charlesivey.com/index.asp) have a low mile mint silver one. It is in the spinning picture on their web site. The owners bought it new for Le Mans seceral years ago but they changed the regs and it was never raced. it is not officially for sale but when I got my 996TT serviced there last week the service manager said he might like to sell it.

Are you sure you want a 959? Parts can be ludicrously expensive...... A moderately tuned 996tt will be quicker.

Andrew Mearns at Gmund cars (fromerly part of autoclassica up in yorkshire) should be able to help you source a good car. They (autoclassica) had two for a while....

Blimey thats an interesting first post! Chap on here used to have one, think his name was Dokic or something. Anyway, by all accounts he used it as something of a family hack, expensive to run but rewarding!

I thought about it for a while, when there was one for £87k on here. Concluded:

Same performance as 996TT X50

Interior from a 3.2

Massive parts and running costs (est £10k p.a.+)

Huge insurance as repair costs massive (eg rear section £15k+, wheels £4k each etc)

Indeed. Or maybe just good old fashioned imaginery, probably from the same non-existant dealer....

I have done approx 2000 kms in a 959 over the years and its one of only a few cars I have managed the double ton in, very impressive car even today, and awesome for its time however...........as you probably know the car will have to be serviced by Porsche in Reading and as already stated on here the running costs are astronomic, its not unusual to get a £10-15K bill for an annual service, if you are genuinely interested in one, my pal has one which he will sell, Silver under 10000KMS........mail me thru my profile if you want to go further.

i have no experience of a 959, so feel free to treat my opinion with the brush of it probably deserves. my guess is though you're looking for something a little more out of the ordinary than your run of the mill 911's. IMHO you need look no further than the gt2. drive one and you'll see what i mean.

I've had a ride in a 959 and was left distinctly unimpressed - but then the turbos did not really chime in until it hit 130! I guess that dynamically the world has moved on since this car was introduced and it ougt to be bought for its iconic status rather than out and out performance. ISTR its max was 197 mph too.

Gmund had at least one for sale at £89k last year IIRC - a long way of the £300k price being asked for them in the early '90s!

Nope, was the real thing, along with about 4 Ferraris, a Maccer F1 and various other Porsches. Unfortunately the family no longer post here, following the sad and untimely death of Jon, however, us older members of PH remember them well.

The Dokics/SparkyJohn/Margo/Streetcop & a profile on Ferrarichat were all the figment of someone's imagination.
