It's the front wing of my 944, and it's painted some weird Seat blue (was used on the old Toledo I believe).

It's a 1983 so a really early one and has been a rolling project since 2008, it now needs an engine rebuild as it's never been right and is still spewing oil out of the exhaust. It's still fun though since it's now sporting polybushed suspension, braided brake lines and Spax coilovers.

On the subject of the Boxster, it's going to be a daily driver. I won't be putting any performance parts on it but just enjoying it as is. I can't find any rust on it (yet) but for the price of the car I'm not too worried.

I did discover that it does indeed need a spring after taking for an MOT re-test and they pointed out the broken spring...on the opposite side of the car to originally stated!

Strut is now off the car and a new spring ordered ready to fit tomorrow if it arrives. I have until Thursday off work so it's a bit of a tight schedule to get it going. My Mondeo gets picked up on Saturday by its new owner and the 944 needs a rear wheel bearing so I'll be a bit screwed if I can't get it done.

And space. I have adjusted the seating position in my 996 (had the seats moved back 4cms and installed a 5,5cm steering column extender) and now I actually fit!

In a Box, once you are taller than 6ft, you start to run into space issues.

I found the seat in the 986 didn't go far enough back and I'm barely 6ft.

I'm only 5'9" granted but I was surprised at the weekend when I was forced to drop 3 boys of for rugby in the 996 that the 10 year old fitted behind me without me needing to move my seat forward.
It was like a comedy sketch in the rugby club car park on arrival, loads of mums in big Volvo's & Range Rovers with 1 cherub & then I arrive pulling 2 U14's & a U10 with 4 kit bags out of the smallest car there. Practical cars these 911's.

Aren't they just!

Regularly find room for two mid size cases in the front boot and three more in the back smile

Been away for the weekend as a family of 4 several times, been camping with a mate & taken 2 largish mates to FoS (2.5hrs each way) in my 996, even room for the dog in the footwell!

I think it's fairly well known that the seats are lower and the cabin is generally a bit more roomy in a 987 compared to 986.

It took me 3 months to realise it holds 2 cups.

There's a lot of room in the 987 compared to the 986.

Car is basically the same size but i believe pedals sit slightly further away and steering wheel goes up and down not just in and out.

Is it not the other way about? Pretty sure the 986 has no reach adjustment.

My 996 has reach adjustment but not height - very annoying, I can't see the top of the dials !

I'd always assumed the 986 was the same.

986 is exactly the same as a 996 from behind the front seats forward.

The Boxster deteriorated pretty quickly. I knew the water pump was knackered but it started making horrendous noises and has now taken to pissing coolant out of the pump. Just as well the new pump has just arrived!
