They look like 997 wheels. If so the offset is 7mm inboard on front and 7mm out on rear. The front difference can make the steering a bit off.
Thanks, good to know. Yes, I've seen these wheels on plenty 997 C2s. I do quite like them so they'll be staying for the time being. Will see how it feels after some new rubber and an alignment but I'll keep that in mind. Might need to look at some spacers.WojaWabbit said:

My mate had them on his 996.2 and he took it to Centre Gravity. They explained to him that the higher offset - more inboard - on the front can make the steering feel nervous. I think that's the word he used. Lets just say he changed the wheels within a week and is much happier with his car. Yes you can achieve the same with spacers - front only - you dont need all new wheels.

Mine had the same wheels on it when I bought it, the front end felt more firmly planted when I out the OZ wheels on it
Exactly They probably have better offset
Going outward on my 996 from OEM to +15mm definitely made the steering more weighty or meaty. So going the other way could do the opposite. Maybe go too light or not want to centre or all manner of problems.
If you read this thread often enough, it can unwittingly motivate you to put your brave pants on!! Mine was buying a sub £13k manual aerokit 996 C4 in September 2017 & the ownership journey subsequently (very expensive at times ) but on balance after 5 years I can’t realistically see me selling it as I’ve invested so much in it that it’s definitely a candidate for “Triggers Broom” but I know it’s now pretty much all sorted
I’ve also contributed to the “Porsche fever” by aiding at least 4 other friends in to ownership of 996s and a Boxster

Jumped on the bandwagon this week. Got a C4S. Needs a bit of attention as the AC is dead and the heated seat has shorted. Most major things have been done. An engine rebuild in 2020 and had only covered 3k since. Needed a good clean inside too!
Very well done.Nothing about that looks poverty at all.
Do you mind me asking how much it set you back?

Thanks, it was £16,990. I traded my shed merc i had been running about in for £600 against it. Ive been looking for a while and this came on at a realistic price. Some are still chancing thier arm at mid 20's and IMHO i think that boat has sailed. Nothing about that looks poverty at all.

That ship may have sailed but perception is like a super tanker. And super tankers take time to slow down or turn.
Very true. Though in extreme economic circumstances, the tanker may simply sink. If things get as bad as some people think, all these pricey Porsches gonna get cheap, and quick!£16k for a rebuilt 4S is a total steal if it's a goodun'. There are still indies out there who'd be trying for double that.

I’ve driven it 500 miles in the week I have had it, it’s seems to be fine so far with nothing wrong with it that I did’t notice on inspection. The front end needs new condensers and radiators, damp patches indicate a leak. Also the aircon pipe running under the sill leaked when I tried to regas. I’m just ordering the parts and will get it fixed asap.
I hope that it will be sound after this.
Here’s the link to the car where I bought it.

Still hovering around here.a couple of 987s have caught my eye recently:
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/2022090995...
Known seller, sports seats, fair price, right engine, right words to go with it. Such a shame its Silver and Black!
But even more so, this one:

I don't know much about the seller other than I immediately recognise the photo location - they seem to have a good throughput of 'our' kind of Porsche.
But more miley hence the pricing I think but what a fabulous colour inside and out, compare how much it lifts the car with the silver/black. I think interior colour is potentially more important than usual when your talking about open cars.
I'm still in my Elise, but a particularly miserable rainy journey does swing one's thoughts around again to cars that are waterproof. S2000, Z4m or Boxster seem to be the results I keep coming to, and as I've done 986 it'll be a 987.

Mortimers tend to be pretty (very) expensive and the one time I rang about a car was not impressed by their attitude / approach, but they do have a lot of these things and am sure at least some of their stick will be good. Just wasn't left with the feeling that it ranked among those places where I'd be pretty confident that they'd step up if the car turned out to have a major issue shortly after purchase.
Personally don't mind paying the dealer premium, but only provided I'm confident it's a dealer that will stand by the car.
