Stretching the poverty part but what is the collective wisdom on this?

3.2 so less potential 987 bork?

I really fancy it:

Iirc the “road tax” was considerably more than the 986.2S it replaced

Love the Cocoa. As your broker, I'd advise buy. Blue horseshoe loves 987 Cocoa.

3.2 987.1 is the value buy out of everything right now, I reckon. Stupid amount of car for the money and unlike most stuff, didn't inflate very much as we came out of the pandemic. That's only slightly more money that you'd have paid in 2019.

As others have said, the cocoa interior is a lovely place to be. Make the plastics black from a 987.2, then use some pepita on the seat centres and door cards and you have a cut-price 997.1 Sport Classic interior.

At least that is what I tell myself whilst planning to do so...

This looks potentially good value. 3.2 with 70k miles for £7k. Same owner last 15 years and kept inside.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202210110...

Clean MOT history, only off-putting thing is that it's only done 5k miles since 2009. So has sat around a lot.

Pfft! Cars are slated for having too many miles, and are now slated for having too few miles! smile

Exactly

There is no perfect car

You can find faults with all of them or reasons not to buy

If you actually want to buy one you need to focus on the for reasons or you'll get dragged down by the against reasons

Posted the car because it looks an interesting prospect. But the reality is that leaving these cars sitting for years can cause problems. This isn't a reason to dismiss the car. But why you wouldn't want to consider all the relevant info is beyond me.

But, OK, just pick one from the classifieds, wire the money, and buy it blind if that's apparently the way to do it!

My low mileage car has basically been sat around for years and years. I like to say it has been dry stored for 20 years because most people can understand that even if not car nerds. It does have a few niggles or issues. The PO to me had it for a few years and didn't use it much. He did recommission a few bits and pieces. I'm still struggling to decide what to do with it. I can still enjoy it as is but obviously it would be better if it was all sorted. I think I've fixed the hardtop leak now which is good news. That was really annoying me.

I see there's a 150k mile 996 Targa waiting in the coming soon section of Collecting Cars.....

https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2003-porsche-9...

It'll be interesting to see where the market is for such a car given the economic climate?!

If only it was a tiptronic, we could have seen the cheapest 996 in a while

That targa could be a nice buy for the mechanically savvy.

Interestingly there's an invoice for some work staying all the suspension faults they found (it's completely worn out, like you'd expect) but not for any of fixes. Perhaps it'll all be clem clear when the ad is live with a description!

It's got an immediate 2k spend on it otherwise!

How does £8k sound for a Tip C4 coupe?

Realise it's yellow, but that's a tonne of cash for a 2.7 with a plastic cabin. It's not particularly low miles, either, and vendor looks pretty unappealing...

I bought this 2 months ago.

https://www.flatsixclassics.co.uk/listings/porsche...

Spent about £2k getting it to my liking. Was I wrong? All I can say it’s a joy to drive. Sean Dewhurst is the owner of the company and is a genuine bloke. I probably paid too much for the car but I love it. Far nicer to drive than th 996.1 I had beforehand.

It's a 3.2 from a proper vendor. Not really comparable.

I've bought a car from him before, too, and likewise paid 'too much'. But it's a premium for buying from a vendor who actually knows what he is selling and stands by his cars.
