I've followed this thread on and off over the years, had my first Boxster when you started it and have recently acquired my third. It's been been a good blend of fun!ATM said:

Picked this up on Thursday after spotting it on FB marketplace. Fancied another Boxster, always heard good things about the 2.5’s, miss having a convertible for summer, and be nice to have something that I’m not quite as precious over as the 911.
Cracked coolant tank leaking into the boot, roof not working, old/crap tyres, no MOT or history, only one key.
LOTS of little niggles that need sorting but…..engine sounded very sweet, gearbox is good and there’s something very cool about a very early 2.5 Boxster. No AC, cloth seats, 16 inch wheels. Proper poverty spec (and all the lighter for it).
Changed the coolant tank yesterday (awful job) and she’s feeling mega after a run around the block.
Paid £2400. I can’t go wrong for a summer toy, surely?! I’ll sort a proper readers cars post soon

Edit: Google says recent gearbox rebuild. Surely the motor has had some attention?

That cup car almost looks like a good deal.... My German is a bit rusty has it had a recent rebuild? You could easily fit road biased coilovers and a bit more interior and people would lose their minds over it.

Original Porsche 996 GT3 Cup MY 99
vehicle has always been serviced and has a very good service history.
Transmission was freshly revised.
Some updates such as doors with window frames, M&M complete exhaust system 997, etc.
On request and for an additional charge, the vehicle can be purchased with a spare parts package such as the engine, gearbox, wheel sets, etc.
A 996 GT3 Cup MY 01 with road approval can also be brokered at short notice for a bid from 80k.
I like the look of the carbon doors. I think I read that one of the GT3 generations had a straight cut sequential box. That's a totally different ball game than a standard road car. The last pic looks like a different car with gen 2 headlights?vehicle has always been serviced and has a very good service history.

I can't see the bit about carbon doors - it just seems to say "Doors with frames" to me (Türen mit Scheibenrahmen). If they are included then they would be very nice things to have. Straight cut gearbox would really be the icing on the cake. And, it being a German car, I bet it's been looked after brilliantly well between track-based thrashings.
Why is this so much cheaper than a UK-origin car? How hard is it to import a used car from Germany? If I had the cash then I'd be sorely tempted by this.

Would it need an iva? Or just turn up to the testing station? Straight cut box would be cool but a nightmare on the road.
Not road car = no V5. DVLA wont have any record of it. Need this sorting first which for kit cars means IVA which is probably why people talking about IVA. You dont need an IVA if you can get some form of doc from Porsche like maybe a Certificate of Conformity will work. DVLA may then register the car based on this. Then you can MOT and tax etc.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
