I hate selling cars.
It is indeed, bloody annoying!

I hate comparing but, shocking to see broke-ass teenagers, queue up for Iphone X on 999GBP or some designer Bags for nearly 2 grand, no questions asked. When it comes to old cars, people somehow becoming very anal/specific, very strange consuming behaviour.

They are already anal.

Since the proliferation of information [the internet] it has forced people to believe - wrongly - that because they have more information they are somehow more knowledgeable. They are not. They have just become more anal.

Completely missed that (was that updated recently? I swear it didn't state that when I looked - still have a search bar with 'clu' in it).

That is a good find and reasonably priced.

How are the 987 Cayman S rear pipes different to the Boxster S ones?

I'm not sure what PIWIS can do re: mileage verification, however I do know it's possible to determine operating hours which can determine if the recorded mileage is likely to be correct.

Shame about the service history, but I suspect it'd be up for sale for considerably more otherwise. This is just down the road from me too, if someone from afar would like an opinion from a fellow impoverished Pork owner.

I didn't know the 2.5 was available in the 16 inch wheels. I thought they were only base level on the 2.7?

Assuming the 16 wheels wont fit on an S, is it a case of absolutely no chance or a single mm or so and they would squeeze on?

Was it not you that was disparaging towards me on this thread thread following my attempt to be lighthearted and maybe even attempt to reset the clock on our history / bury the hatchet?

I suspect his previous comment was tongue in cheek. Lighten up smile

As for 16" wheels fitting an S - you'd have to try to be sure they clear the brakes. Not sure when diameter the spare is, but I suspect(?!) they're the same across all models, so...

Of course, just a bit of banter! Not looking for a fight, hopefully that can all be left in the past where it belongs. I'm just excited to have a new Porsche.

What's the brakes like on a 2.5 / 2.7?

I'd imagine they cope fine and could probably haul up a 986S in most conditions other than extreme track work. Although saying that they're more expensive to service right than the S brakes?

Could you kindly elaborate on that?

The 986S brake discs and pads cost relative peanuts. I think they are the cheapest brake parts for any Porsche known to man.

I would add that while I haven't compared with 'S' prices, the cost to do brembo discs and pads on my (smaller braked) 986 2.7 was no more than my dads Skoda Yeti or any other boggo shopping car.

Having used them on track, they are not *mega* powerful however they are still big, feelsome 4 pot Brembo calipers front and rear, and thus far and away better than the usual sliding piston cheap rubbish on almost any other sporty roadster you'll pickup for 4 grand.

Good brakes and no rust, are two of the things I enjoy most over my past MX-5s.

I've only driven a couple of MX5 and found the steering wheel far too low. The bug thing for was didn't feel special like a Porsche and I dont know if I can define that better as I know it sounds dumb. I think the MX5 is appreciated because it is light and simple. I think the Boxster feels like its design is much better thought out.
