Cool, will be interested in hearing your thoughts. I'm not in the market right now (alas) but once I'm finally ready will be good to have some references. Who knows, it might still be for sale in a months time.
Had a look today, unfortunately the dealer wasn't available so I could get any details on the history of it or start and drive it, but was allowed to give it a once over.It needed a clean, bodywork looked straight and scuff free, bit of white mold kicking around which implies it's not had much use recently. Headlights were going milky, there was oil on both heads and underneath. Could be RMS and spark plug tubes, but difficult to tell really.
May be worth going back to give it a better look, but the oily engine put me off.

Did you see this one. Description reads very well...It needed a clean, bodywork looked straight and scuff free, bit of white mold kicking around which implies it's not had much use recently. I think Shirley's is the sort of outfit that will prepare a car fully once it is sold, including a full service with Martin whose next door/MOT and full clean, so I wouldn't let the current slightly grubby outside put you off, or the sweaty engine parts. Its worth a call to Carl at Shirleys to discuss these points and the history if the car is generally of interest.
Martin has not been there for at least a year. Not sure if the garage is even still running. If it is then its without Martin. I didn't see any signs for Porsche Tech or Martin Brown. There was a chap working on some Porsches and other cars in a garage around the back, he was the guy who let me in.
The oil was pretty dirty so had been on there for a little while at least and seemed to cover the heads that I could see and what seemed to be a reasonable leak underneath, it may only be a small leak but could have been happening for some time.
I didn't look at the £8k Boxster as it's out of my price range, but maybe I should've to get a feel for what a more expensive one is like.

Martin's website is still up and I can't see any mention of them closing or him leaving, so maybe I missed the sign or misunderstood where it's situated. I don't want to spread any misinformation on his business if he is still running.

He has not been in that garage for at least a year. That is not misinformation as i know it to be fact. He may be operating or in business. He may be operating from a different location. He may have left his website up and not updated it. This is all speculation except the part about him not occupying or working in the garage next door to Shirleys. http://www.porschetechservicing.co.uk/

Sorry I wasn't casting aspersions on your comments, it was more for my comments that I couldn't see where he would be and I could've just missed it or misunderstood the setup.Having looked at Google Street view I can see they were setup on the left side of Shirley's garage as you look at it. I can't remember 100% but I think was shuttered up and there were no signs again, the whole place looked a bit deserted really.

I might know more about where he is and why but i dont want to muddy the water. He is definitely not there anymore.

Btw, how did you view/access the engine (heads), just crawled undermeath? Good to know for any potential viewings myself...

Depends how close you are to Meriden. It maybe worth having a word as the rest of the car seemed fairly straight, so maybe the'd fix these leaks for you.Btw, how did you view/access the engine (heads), just crawled undermeath? Good to know for any potential viewings myself...
Yeah I was looking under the car with a torch, it's not easy but thankfully it's inside.
Whilst I do recall seeing cheaper 987.2 cars posted here, I wonder if the cognoscenti consider the below as thread worthy:
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
114k, but FSH (franchise? - could mean anything) and MOT history suggests it has been used as a daily driver. 20k miles per year, so likely to be motorway.
If I didn't have the 986 and had that much to spend, I'd be making enquiries.
Having said that, you may be running into similar issues that a 986 may face at such miles, such as clutch and suspension. However, with the use I suspect it's been getting, perhaps the owner has kept on top of these issues? No mention in the ad.
Can someone advise how the 987.2 fares in these departments compared to the 986?

Well I have decided to sell my little porker b4 we go away for a few months. Hopefully there will be some interest. What are the sales like now?
Probably rubbish while it's snowing and temps are sub zero. But once the days are visibly longer and the warmer spring starts to appear there should be more interest. Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
