I have pushed my moped through pedestrian zones. A new piston, it's a single, is about £50. Mine barely used any 2 stroke oil. It's air-cooled so even less to worry about. I have a pedal bike too but use it only for leisure. If it's too far to walk to the shops etc then moped it is.
I didn't know 2 strokes were still legal if new. Presumed the modern emissions regs would have put an end to them.

Scooter or moped fantastic options but where I live (east London) almost impossible now, due to thieves and nearly no-insurance chance(Yup, many insurers do not accept most east London zones anymore!)

Properly looked after 2.5 boxster is great semi-daily actually for central London. Classic insurance, and slow enough to get/park anywhere.

Well, the time has come to buy another nice convertible for a summer runabout and I’ve always wanted to try a Boxster S out.

Does anyone know of any nice, well specced early Boxster S for sale before I start looking?

Ideally I’d be looking for a dark colour with black leather, preferably with sports winged seats. Not bothered about mileage, needs to be in very good condition though.

ETA - Must be manual, i'd prefer to buy from a private seller as well.

Ha Ha

That's what we're all struggling with, which one to buy. There was someone a few posts uo suggesting he might be interested in selling his. But there are lots to choose from. Almost too many.

Can I ask what you're budgeting - ball park?

I'd probably be looking for something around 6-7k max. I'd consider going more for the right car but something about 5-6k would be ideal.

I was in a similar position last year, there’s loads of choice out there.

I made the classic error of buying the first one I saw, but so far it seems a good ‘un for the price paid.

Good ones priced to sell do get snapped up, there’s plenty of like minded souls looking for the right car.

Mine was advertised Saturday morning and we were shaking hands on a deal shortly after lunchtime.

Conversely, some over priced cars sit there for months...

O/T but ooh do I not like to see seasoned logs being stored in a garage.

Bugs like wood piles.
Mice like bugs.
Cars in storage have no defence against mice getting comfy and having a nibble on a wiring loom.

Or you could have had my immaculate low mileage 987 (non S).

I'm not saying 911s are good value compared to Boxsters, because they aren't.
