Seems to have a slight identity crisis. Presumably it's a 3.4 with S badges rather than a 3.6 C4S that has been rebodied as a narrow body as a result of whatever caused it to become Cat D...jimmy p said:

Is this a gen 2? Has gen 1 steering wheel. Are they gen 2 rear lights?

Sorry, not me - no mazdas in my car history.
Test drove MX-5 RF when it was released though - was sorely tempted. Great drive. Would've been perfect for me at the time, but I'd just bought a Z4.

Hello Grover :-)
I miss the Growl more than the Griff though.

You could buy a much lower mileage car for around 15k with proper alloys

Its the mileage that does the price, plus the wheels to me look like replicas not genuine turbo 2 alloys.

But would that be a 3.4 or a 2.9 at that price? I've only seen the latter at circa £15k.You could buy a much lower mileage car for around 15k with proper alloys
When I do decide to upgrade I think I'll be after a well speced 987.2 3.4.
Anyone else watching this 996 Tubby on eBay?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PORSCHE-911-996-TURBO-M...
In lieu of the definitive "Which Porsche engines aren't ticking bombs" guide the turbo is (I think - someone will no doubt pop up with a horror story) a safe place.

It is bloody lovely that. However if I was buying I'd want the coil springs changing as they are clearly not right (or have not been fitted correctly and the suspension uses have all been tightened up incorrectly). Look at the ride height! I'd hazard turbos have more weight out back so perhaps regular carrerra springs have been fitted. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PORSCHE-911-996-TURBO-M...

YesI did mention it a few days ago.
Did a little geeking of my own following Moose's valuable contribution earlier.
Forgetting about the 3.2 for the moment, a 3.4 litre engine is available in both the 987.1 and 987.2. Different architecture aside, they also differ slightly in capacity. The earlier M97 engine has a displacement of 3386 cc whereas the newer 9A1 engine has a displacement of 3436 cc.
This can be checked here: https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ConfirmVehic...
Probably overthinking this as it's obvious from the lights whether a car is gen 1 or gen 2, but it seems relatively straightforward to facelift these cars.

But you can't put an 09 plate on an earlier Boxster. Later car also has the more sculpted rear diffuser look, LED sidelights as well as LED rears. Agreed - just thinking out loud.I for one got confused by the below until I actually clicked the link on eBay and read more. At first glance, I assumed it was a 987.2 with a personalised plate.

There in lies another problem, I believe. Having recently been hit with some maintenance bills myself I now find the price of whole cars of a similar vintage even cheaper than they appeared before. If our glass is half full and we are to believe that these cars will not require any significant maintenance in the near future then we start to question why we have spent so much on our current cars. But who is willing to jump ship from their current car after several big bills and jump into another? Or if our glass is half empty then whats to say these cheap cars wont throw more bills at us. And so the the merry go round keeps spinning. Personally I've got my eyes on this right now as I'm curious where the market sees its value.
