I love that green interior. If my car wasn't blue I'd be happy to swap my grey interior for that.

Just the thought of that green inside a blue car makes me want to hurl though.

Strange as my 944 is turquoise

And then it got written off.

An extreme example, perhaps, but food for thought. Came with 13k worth of invoices for previous work carried out too.
Did you buy a completely f**ked, dodgy MOT & leaking oil wreck? Or did you buy it then randomly decided it needed clutch, brakes, loads of suspension arms, springs, exhaust, full major service and tyres? This sounds like a bad example, what sort of Money did this set you back? I only ask because my 2000my 3.2s with 80k has 90% of what you've mentioned above, all done less than 18 months ago, plus ceramic LN IMS bearing, plus full set of Pirelli P-Zeros! and cost me £5.5k...

Are they made of solid gold at that price?

No, they are not. However, they are the sport seat with the upper "wings".

There does seem to be a three- or four-fold difference in price between the 'Sports' seats and the 'Normal' seats. Are they that much better in real life?

I have the "sports" seats in mine. I have absolutely no idea why people would pay a premium for them.

The standard seat has little in terms of lateral support for me. That said, if I was faced with paying a grand for sports seats I probably wouldn't do it; I'd get some proper aftermarket pews.

This seems like a decent 987 on the face of it and may stay in poverty pork budget...
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2...

Seller lists the mechanical condition as "8/10 - no issues!" However they've not covered the reg number properly in each pic, so you can check the MOT history...

Brake pipes aren't cheap to replace although corrosion is to be expected at this age. Rear oil leak is likely to be RMS, no biggie but could be a bargaining tool for any prospective winner of the auction. Disingenuous description or just ignorance?

The brake pipes are very common on Porsches, the fronts are cheaper than the rear and I’ve run cars with skight corrosion without deterioration for a few years.

The CV joint is pretty standard.

The oil leak would be my only real concern.

If the rest of the car is ok, then his 8/10 description is probably his way of mentioning the known issues.

Not disingenuous, imho

The sports seats also offer little in terms of lateral support! They're pretty much identical to the normal seats bar the bits at the shoulder which I can't say that I find hold me in place. Deeper bolsters lower down would be more useful.

I think originally someone bought a Boxster for under £5k, I paid similar for my Cayenne but I've seen all sorts on here that I wouldn't describe as "poverty".

The thread should really have a budget, something like under £5k 986, 8k 987 £11k Cayman, 13k 996 etc, but there are so many models its difficult to draw a line under them all.

Or just crack on as we are, I don't make the rules smile

I guess it depends on the car in question but I didn't really consider others having alternative budgets when I typed that. Ignorance on my part!

For my own procurement I'm looking at Boxsters and I see £5k 986 S and £7k 987 S as poverty pork budget, which tends to be high mileage, more than five previous owners and not particularly extensive history.

This went for £6800, a relative bargain to my eyes...

This claims to be an Anniversary. My Porsche beard is weak so I'm not sure it is. If so, it's the cheapest out there by a chunk.
