I might have started wearing noise cancelling headphones in my 911. So much better than the stereo which doesn't even work now.

No need to pay for a code from eBay on these headunits.

My 996 does it. Do I need to stop sleeping well at night?

You wouldn't be willing to part with it (assuming it's a CDR-22 / 23 or MDR-32) would you ATM? I'm after a knackered stock Porsche HU for a little project...

Tape player with little section of buttons which clip off.

I'd be interested in the face plate if the buttons aren't flaky.

Uninteresting fact: all the early porsche becker series for the 996 suffered peeling buttons. If yours is early and not peeling, the stereo must have been replaced either under warranty or later.

Well the stereo is sheet. I know that. Since I had the battery off it's asking for a code which I don't know.

or

If the latter, I'd be interested if I could tempt you to sell. I don't actually need the faceplate if was8v wants that smile

Buttons are peeling. Worse on head unit than pop off panel.

Looking at a 2001 986 S soon on on 66k at £5.5k

Original owner until 2 years ago and serviced at OPC annually, only serviced once in new ownership.

New engine at 18k miles under warranty, presumably they would have replaced the clutch then?

Only done circa 1000 miles per year for the last 4 years and tyres advised perishing on last 2 MOTs. Is there much other rubber that is likely to have perished from such little use and is it expensive / a pain to replace?

If the AC condensors, rads, suspension, brake lines haven't been sorted am I going to need to budget for these imminently?

Here's a photo of the interior, looks pretty basic.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks, James

Keep it then. A factory original Becker might be worth ££££ one day. But probably not.

These stereos are actually really good SQ when paired decent speakers (your old nokia factory speakers will be toast), and critically a £2 aux in wire and either your phone or a bluetooth audio adapter as a decent source.
