I can't imagine owning a PDK Boxster unless my left foot/leg was knackered.

Would sap the car of so much.

Oh dear - what happened to that very pretty Boxster then LG?
Remedial work required was more than it was worth or I could justify.

I was lucky having it all through the fantastic Summer last year and thoroughly enjoyed every mile in it. I've looked at alternatives and nothing else is floating my boat at the moment, so will shortly begin the search in earnest. Just getting a feel for the market at the moment - some smashing boxsters about.

This one could be a nice buy. Looks like it's been written off for a gearbox.

Auctioned ended unsold. Seller wants 14k. I think that's reasonable but not cheap enough to get me excited.

Nice one Ecsy

I might have a bid on this one. Roof looks a bit loose around rear window to me here - simple fix?

Looks like fretting on the roof from being folded down for a long time / left folded down i.e. due to having a hard top, mine has the same, creases fade after a bit

Regarding 986, has anyone fitted the extended sump kit? I'd like to track it, maybe Nurburgring etc,

Or, is it not required for amateur track day action?

I'm talking the £390-odd kit from design911

Just checking if its worth it for some track action / always keen to add race parts..

Beers!"

Not sure if i am doing this right but here we go,

I have a 997t here, and previously a 964 (bought and sold at poverty prices), but i find myself travelling to California a lot, as Mrs BR is from that part of the world, as a result i thought it would be fun to have a car out there, and rather than use her parents cars, or her old station wagon (her first and only car) decided I could easily find a cheap leggy Porsche. Her buddy is a huge car nut, has a load of cars he finds cheap and fixes up and pointed me in the direction of a nice enough looking 996 - so we went halves...

Body work is a solid 7/10, few dinks here and there,
Interior is very nice, no scuffs on the sports seats, Bluetooth, iPod connector
Tiptronic
997 wheels
Lowered on Bilstein’s
Crazy dark tints
Some crappy cf look-a-like roof vinyl
Lovely yellow fade on the lights
and to top it off, 190k miles

But the very interesting thing is that 9 years ago it had a complete engine replacement done by Porsche in one of their many facilities. So the new engine has only done 85k miles.

All this for $10,100 (£7,750) and purchased off Craiglist, which apparently isn't too uncommon in the states. Anyway, here you are

Pretty happy with it even though it does feel kind of old and has taken a beating after the miles and miles of absolutely st Californian highways but its fun, looks cool and shifts when floored (which is when its happiest)

And as this is a Porsche forum, wife's cousin came round to dinner in his new car...the show off,

Lovely, I bet there is zero rust too.

I wonder if 9 years ago the replacement 3.4 engine got the later 997 style large IMS bearing and bores or the 3.6 style IMS bearing and bores - hopefully the former! But who cares at that price.

Just when i see some chat about track use, does anyone track a Boxster S?

I don't really use mine any more and don't really want to sell it either so thought of turning it into a club sport spec track car, anyone done anything similar?

It's a car I've never seen on any track day that I've been on.

It does, thanks.

Mine has nearly 125k miles on it although FSH, new IMS/RMS, clutch, etc, etc so engine failure would be my biggest concern and would probably be a one way ticket to the scrappy if it happened.

Knockhill i my local track which isn't known for heavy surge zones and is usually short sessions but i may have a look into a baffled sump as the car is on AD08R's which are pretty grippy.

I used mine for a year while my track car was broken.. I thought it was really good for a standard car. The only mod I made was to fit a proper seat - made a huge difference. Car was on new m030 dampers, OE textar pads. Used at tracks as varied as Spa, Donington, Snetterton, Cadwell, & Curborough.

Oh yes I used a square setup 225/45/17 AD08's (from my 944 track car)

If I was doing it again and wanted a more long term road/track car I guess I'd fit a better sump baffle, PF08 pads or similar & probably some better dampers with stiffer springs.

There's a handful of owners on Boxa.net who are regular track day go-ers. Have a search or chat to them to see how they fare perhaps. Most have only done fairly light mods including seats and brakes.

I thought the first was for the 2.7 and then a later one for the 3.2 was introduced. The link seems to say the 2.7 class is a new addition. In the pics they clearly have a cayman too or maybe it's a 987 with hardtop.

2 race 986 on eBay today. Silver one looks mean with massive rear spoiler and a pretty blue one - I'm a sucker for blue.
