2 race 986 on eBay today. Silver one looks mean with massive rear spoiler and a pretty blue one - I'm a sucker for blue.
Mine is blue as well, thanks for the heads up, had a good look to see what’s kind of spec they are running. Seems quite pricey for an unfinished race car the blue one but if it’s priced right I’ll crack on with modding mine as it would appear you can get your money back.R8Steve said:

The 2.7 Class is new for 2019.They introduced the original 3.2 Class many years ago to modernise the 924 series, although the 924s still run alongside them.
I think the philosophy was loosely based on the "Spec Boxster" racing series in the USA, although this is or was for 2.5 cars. The rules for the series are tightly controlled. At a similar time, PCGB allowed the Boxster to run in their PCGB series, although I think the regs differ in some details. The PCGB series also allowed in 2.5 and 2.7 Boxster at different weights.
ISTR that a Hartech built and run Boxster won the PCGB series a few years ago. I think that Hartech are now a sponsor and technical partner of the BRSCC series.
The BRSCC Porsche series introduced a cheaper more basic 3.2 class a few years ago but I don't think this really caught on. Maybe cheaper now to buy a second hand top class car than build a new one, even to lower spec 3.2 regs?
I can only assume that the new 2.7 Class is an attempt to have another, cheaper, class.

I always assumed they spent more than the purchase price. Modding is never a good idea financially.
I can vouch for that! That price would allow me to do 12k of mods to mine and still have a few £ change
Not that i'll be going that far right enough.
I know its childish but I really want that silver 986 for pootling round in. I can imagine getting in and out isn't simple and it wont have a roof down option. That car looks meaner than a mean thing pulling a mean face. It's lower than an air ride cruiser and that back wing looks seriously good. Better than a 996 GT2 ... maybe.

I have a set of Corbeau Pro-Series seats in the garage i'll put in, i'll get a harness bar and harnesses, set of gaz golds, maybe a set of lighter wheels and rear cage. I'd want to retain full use of the soft top though.
I've got a toyosport exhaust and headers, panel filter, carbotech pads, braided hoses, high temp fluid and AD08R's on it already so it shouldn't cost too much to get it to a decent spec.
They're still too cheap to even bother selling at the moment for all i would get for it.

I personally can't think of a better bargain out there than the 986 S. I don't think i'll ever get rid of mine now unless they start going to silly money like pretty much every other car of that era has.
I've had the old 'must be getting paid too much' line and what have you if i am in mine on a summers day. The response provides quite a shock when i point out it's only worth about 12 months payments on their new 120d
I fail to mention the ongoing maintenance costs right enough!

There's a handful of owners on Boxa.net who are regular track day go-ers. Have a search or chat to them to see how they fare perhaps. Most have only done fairly light mods including seats and brakes.
I am one of them and would be happy to chat about my experiences. My car is a close to standard 2.5. The only mods I have done (other than typical maintenance) are stiffer ARBs (M030), rear subframe stress bar, 987 motor mount and RS transmission mounts. The suspension is standard as are the brakes (albeit with regular fluid changes).
I am by no means the next Lewis Hamilton but so far the car has been fantastic. Utterly reliable (I may regret saying this) and - whilst not the fastest on the straights - very impressive through the corners. The standard brakes are great and I have had no fade/issues at all.
I think the secret to these cars is a) to accept that (the early ones) are 20+ years old and will need maintenance/things fixing and b) to ensure that they are well maintained (which you probably want to do with any car that sees the track regularly) - regular oil changes supported by regular checks of components/fluids. If you keep an eye out for problems, you can often get them before they become a real issue.
Finally, whilst there are bargains to be had (and many people luck out) my personal feeling is that it is probably worth paying more for one that has been well looked after in the past.

I'm considering selling my 3.2S if you're looking, it's to fund a deposit on a flat or a 996, I can't decide (LOL & truth).
It's got 91k and a dual row ceramic LN Engineering IMS bearing and a hard top.
What year is your 3.2?It's got 91k and a dual row ceramic LN Engineering IMS bearing and a hard top.
There isnt much difference I'd guess between a 986 and a 996 but if you have a scratch then it needs to be itched. Depends which one you're after?
I really really like my 996, there here - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

It's 2000, for the £255 road tax, black/black & turbo twists. There isnt much difference I'd guess between a 986 and a 996 but if you have a scratch then it needs to be itched. Depends which one you're after?

I'll get a C4s eventually but I'm shopping for an early no sunroof manual C2, just like yours actually lol. Seems to be very little premium for the C4 also, do they suffer gearbox or front diff issues? I am a big 4wd fan so..

After talking about mine decided to take it out of storage today and give it a good run and for the dreaded MOT test.
Still goes well for an old girl and Mr MOT man was more than happy to sign it off...
No advisories and a clean bill of health, got a full service including new plugs and coil packs.
Again I don’t think I’ll ever sell this car, happy man and happy car.

C2 is probably more expensive than equivalent C4 as considered more pure and slightly better steering feel and therefore sought after. C4S is more than both C2 and C4 purely because of its great looking fat arse. No real issues with the 4wd on these. I have a C4, mainly because it's still a great drive and it was under £10k

This weekend i gave mine a clean before heading to Caffeine & Machine.
Removed the Plinth to get behind, and realised how good the front end could look. (With the exception of the 2 plugs, & Pheasant damage!)
Now I'm thinking about removing the Plinth, and having a smaller plate, or sticker plate.
Please confirm by reply you did collect and eat the pheasant.Removed the Plinth to get behind, and realised how good the front end could look. (With the exception of the 2 plugs, & Pheasant damage!)

I'd recommend an eBay £6 vinyl front plate also..
