The biggest issue I see is older owners skimping on additional maintenance (4, 6 & 12 year service stuff) and just having the basic Minor and Major Service so they can get the stamp in the book. As the Porsche service books only list Minor, Major, Oil Service, Brake Fluid and long life check it’s very much abused.[quote=NelsonM3]Out of interest. I’m looking at selling my 2001 2.7 986 and would be interested in where people place this value wise?
Lapis blue, black leather interior, 18 inch twists (refurbed), centre console delete, otherwise a fairly sparse car options wise.
Mileage is 134,000 miles. The car is a full Porsche Service history and was a one owner car until 2018 when I purchased it. I work for Porsche and have spent about £9,000 in the nearly two years I’ve owned it. New suspension arms, oil separator, clutch/flywheel, you name it! The only thing that was done outside the network was the BAS glass roof. I even spent £1700 at the official Porsche body shop having the front end and rear bumper resprayed and it’s just had a genuine windscreen put in. It’s quite literally a restoration job.
I expect if I put it up for sale £5,000 would be realistically what I’d get given there is a bit of provenance?

I'd be trying boxa.net first as there is an active community of enthusiasts there. If you provide enough detail you may find a buyer that will appreciate that your car is better than average.Lapis blue, black leather interior, 18 inch twists (refurbed), centre console delete, otherwise a fairly sparse car options wise.

I'm still hankering after a lapis blue 986 to replicate my first Porsche but she had the hated Savannah trim and facelift bumpers.

I’m in the market for something like yours (ideally was after an earlier 2.5 but nevermind). I’d potentially be interested but think Trooper is in the more realistic ballpark.
PM me if you are interested in a 986, I currently have a 2.5 Manual that will soon be up for sale. 3.5k spent on it in June and I will be asking less than that for it when it is ready for sale!Ocean Blue
Red extended leather

Ha ha.

I hold Bilstein in very high regard - I doubt you will go wrong, although I know nothing about how good it is (or how good the competitors are) for the 996. It will be stiff, mind.
(When the time comes for new struts on my 987 Cayman then I'll be buying Bilstein, unless there is a VERY good reason not to).

I had Koni on the front of a Land Rover/Range Rover hybrid and they lasted a season of Comp Safaris so have respect for them.
I've put Bilstein on a Subaru Legacy in the past and they were good. The everyday Saab has Bilstein but just B4's. The Ducati has Ohlins front & rear.
I'll try the Bilstein B6 on the Boxster as they do an option to retain full ride height. The lane up to my house is very bumpy.

I presumed he was not going to buy just one B6.
Understand the stock dampers are Bilstein B4.
May go down the route of refreshing dampers and springs. If this is the case, would be torn between B4 / B6 / Koni Special Active.
The car is used 'as intended' in the Yorkshire Dales.
The famous cars with no reserve in Reading. They simply buy at auction and shift in high volumes. They always have 100 cars in motion which must he hard work to keep track of. They photograph them before they have even bought them and sometimes list them on ebay before they own them too. Some sell straight away and some take a few goes. Its an interesting business model. They currently have this ending in 18 hours.
