Fair enough. But if I said a 2010/11 S would be the equivalent of around GBP18k, but a 2008/09 S with a few more kms would be the equivalent of around GBP9k, what would you’re answer be?
Is a car two years younger wearing say 30,000 fewer miles worth a 100% premium at this end of the market?
I don't know what the mechanical differences are between the 2 cars but for me the premium to be driving a car that looks 3 years old is worth it vs one that looks 15+ years old - if that doesn't bother you then clearly not worth it. That is orient red as the advert says, with Savannah interior, which given my choice would be my ideal spec. Would prefer a tip cab but that is very, very tempting. Get behind me Satan.......
Oops, you're right - sorry! I didn't read the wording of the colour in the ad. I'm a BIG fan of coloured cars (as opposed to the sea of black and grey and silver you see everywhere) but I'm not sure that that red and the interior go. Now if they did that red with a pale cream interior, akin to the old 944 colour Linen, that would be lovely! And I do like the ruffled leather, comments about 'granddad spec' notwithstanding.

Stunning on the outside but I absolutely detest Savannah interiors. Amazed so many cars have them vs. grey or black.Bargain for possibly the best sports car ever made

Much better than the all the blacks, greys and silvers...
I've taken a bit of a punt on a Lapis Blue/Metropole Blue 2001 986 2.7 - with 18k miles.
It was in storage, but was recommissioned at an OPC a couple of years ago and just serviced by them prior to sale, including brake fluid replacement.
Early impressions are very favourable - it's immaculate inside and out, with 17" Twists, shod with N0 Goodyear Eagles with good tread depth.
Not quite poverty priced, but I am happy with what I paid and hope to be able to keep it along with my MK2 Golf GTI 8v, though this may not be possible.
I'll get more of a chance to dig beneath the surface at the weekend, but very glad to have a Porsche back in the garage and looking forward to a few road trips when the weather allows.

Is it safe to buy Porsche in Yorkshire?
Buying a 'classic' Porsche in Yorkshrie has had a bit of a bad rep particularly on 911UK however my next door neighbour had a very lovely Boxster S from them with no bother, he did however pay what I thought was an awful lot of money for it. edc said:
Koni stuff.
The Koni FSD's I fited on mine a couple of years ago (predessor to 'Special Active', same digressive damping/platform damping technology) were spectacularly good for a road car. I really would reccomenbd them over Bilstein. 2Btoo said:

Its credit to the 911 that whilst a white GT3 with stickers, wings, fat tyres, bucket seats and a cage is so 'right', that 996 in complete opposite spec also, to me, looks very right. A lovely road car, could park it up anyhwere with pride all for the price of a Fiesta.
I sold my Boxster a few months back. I was supposed to 'forget' about Poverty Pork. I have driven the Boxsters replacement much more.
However I keep popping back in here, just to have a look....

Are you sure about this? When searching for new rubber earlier in the year, was unable to find any N-rated Eagles in 17" 986 fitment, ie 205 50 F and 255 40 R.Ended up with Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 on the rear, and Asymmetric 5 on the front.
Not concerned about N-rated or not, just could not find any

I'll have to check the size when I get home - definitely N0, but I am not sure if they are the sizes you mention - 235/50 at rear?. Ended up with Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 on the rear, and Asymmetric 5 on the front.

I'll see if I can check the date - I'd be pretty sure they were fitted two years ago by the previous owner, when he bought it from the first owner who had stored it for a number of years.
I'll get some pictures next time I'm at home in daylight.

987 should be 205 55 and 235 50

In any case the wheels are unmarked and the tyres are good, so I'm happy. The rears are less than 1% larger in overall diameter, so no real impact on gearing.
Those wheels are the 17 inch Boxster S wheels.
You have the 2.7 but they could have been spec’d from new.
Do you have the service book with the options sticker? Also found under the front boot lid on 9X6 models.
The option codes should reveal all...

I'd agree with moo the rears dont look balloon enough on the blue car but its possible they were changed after the picture was taken. Sometimes they prep for sale after pics taken. I'd be disappointed if a decent garage fitted the wrong size tyres to my car. Although saying all that the standard sizes are dumb anyway. Too much rear bias in width. The fronts are an inch bigger in overall diameter if you have the 205 55 from the 987.
