That's the way 997 gen 1 are heading IMO.
There's lots out there. Will be a cracking buy soon. £15k for decent manuals and keep the rest in back pocket on the chance engine rebuild is required.

That's about right i reckon, tip, almost 100k miles, no mention of borescope or IMS (which at 2005MY is still amongst the last of the problem ones).
There were 16k 997's 3 months ago, albeit towards the bottom end of the market. Personally i wouldn't be at all tempted.

Agreed, by mid summer I think manual 997's with lower miles will be mid-teens, which is good or bad depending on what side of the fence you're sitting

Yep, the Cars & Classic advert has been updated now to show the same photos but still strangely lists the seller type as 'Private'

Are we aloud to say the name, or maybe a rhyme of the name. So I can do my own research...

According to that advert, its the single row IMS that causes bore score... I see... wobble

Having said that, to the non initiated the advert is fantastic. Nice pics, great detailed description, loads of info. If I didn't know any better I'd be tempted myself!

Which name? If it's the place I'm thinking of then it's changed names more often in the last five years than I've changed my socks.*

-*- I'm kidding. I must have changed the stinky buggers at least eight times in the last half-decade.

Ironically, being a 2001 car, it is likely to have had a single row bearing. Not sure if they're implying it's been changed to a dual row (am not sure this is possible?!).

Probably tried doing some research on t'interweb and got confused. Early 3.4s had ferrous coated pistons and didn't score. Late 3.4s and all 3.6 had 'plastic' coated pistons which may break down over time = bore score.

Then again, am aware of a 3.6l 996 with over 200k on the clock. Pot luck.

I had a look at the ebay ad - he has an E30 320i with one lady owner . . .a Mr Murray! It has an entire mini-series of a history.

He used to post on here with what can only be described as a unique approach to PR, as he roundly insulted potential customers with an arrogance that Kanye would find irksome.
