That’s what he said, but perhaps he meant something else.

Only downside of buying from a friend is if it all goes horribly wrong, but that’s a risk with any car.

Was a very rare option on these cars. Rarer than factory bucket seats.

After renewing the elastic in the hood yesterday on my 987 to sort the last thing on my to-do list, it rewarded me today by the bolts for the left side CAT/exhaust flange failing and it blowing loudly and sounding like an anti-social bag of spanners. D’oh.

Bit harsh innit? It's obvious he just means the serpentine belt.

Saying that the other list of faults doesn't scream 'looks after his cars' to me.

I assumed he meant the aux belt or serpentine. There is one of those right?

I think calling my friend a liar for getting the belts mixed up in a quick message to me is harsh and when I say that he looks after his cars I mean that he has a list of jobs to do that he is honest about, not hiding any issues. And probably overstating them.

Anyway, I’m in talks with him this week about potentially getting it bought and getting the issues sorted myself.

Seal grey with full black leather. Not the most exciting colours perhaps, but I think the grey looks great on a 986.

To put it in perspective my 2.5 was Ocean Blue with black leather, so I'm a bit boring with colour schemes...

Agreed

Just because he isn't a Porsche bore - like you !!! - doesn't mean the car isn't good.

4k is a proper bargain. Dont mess around.

I agree, Seal Grey really suits them! Nearly bought an S with that same spec back in 2009, £17k at the time (OPC)!

This is pretty much exactly what I am looking for, but does it look like it has had paint in the photographs?

Enjoyable read, especially the bit about the look of the ad, reminded me of some posts a page or two back.

My 987 CS was Seal Grey over Black - I really liked it. One man's boring is another man's subtle and classy.

One of the reasons I went for my current 986 was a SG Boxster I passed daily on my commute - it really looks well. (though mine is Lapis/Metropole, which I also really like)

Thought I'd ask about a seat retrim in red, for my arctic on black 986S. Drive in & out service from TheSeatSurgeons in York is £585 + vat. Crests £25ea extra. Not as bad as I thought it might be but I probably won't bother.
