Nice

I feel sorry for anyone paying £580 road tax on these where they are registered after march 2006. Feels like a double whammy to me considering it is not even the S and yet still the big tax bill.
I've got one registered June 2007, DVLA website shows 12 months tax at £325
Yeah

For some reason they are the higher bracket for about a year of manufacture from 2006 to 2007 and then they were downgraded. Which would make it even more annoying if you ask me to have one that is 580.

I had a late March 2006 registered 2.7 with 5 speed and it was in the top bracket for tax which was £500+

£580 a year simply to be allowed to drive a car on the road (even if you don't want to) is a disgrace for any car, let alone a "poverty pork" candidate.

This

All it does is drive down prices so these cars become worthless and then written off so these cars don't get driven and then more cars need to be made to replace them and then that just damages the environment even more.

Surely remove this excessive stupid road tax and instead add a bit more tax on fuel and ot will achieve the same end result. But at least then thirsty cars could be used occasionally and not just written off.

I hesitated about going down that line as obviously on PH, it's preaching to the converted, but apparently the population as a whole doesn't have a problem with taxing people based on how expensive their car is or how big its engine is, regardless of whether it's actually driven.

Apparently £2k tax is ok for a car that actually produces 0 gm of carbon dioxide, because it's expensive and has a big engine, whereas £150 tax is also ok for a cheap, smaller engine car that actually produces a metric shed load of carbon dioxide because it's a daily driver for a long commute.

Still, let's end it there because we'll all end up self-combusting if we try to figure out the logic of it (beyond it essentially being an envy tax).

If you compare the UK to the rest of the world we are getting away pretty light with regards to cost of used cars and the tax we pay on them. We also get lucky with regards to what you can do to cars, you can have a road legal Sofa if you wanted.

My mate was in Singapore, 150% import tax! His bos was CFO of a major commodity company And used an electric scooter to get to work as he didn’t own a car

As I've said repeatedly I'm a sucker for the 986 from this angle with a hardtop on which makes no sense I know but well the pic says it all so I don't have to, but I cant not add that the door being open like this just perhaps teases me in some additional way

Also the description and reason for sale is so new to me that I can only assume that it must be true

I also added another pic to show the copious amount of cow around the air vents to get moo excited

Really struggling to think of reasons why I am not buying this car immediately

I have to agree with you ATM, as I bought my old boxa back in early 2012 due to a similar angle/picture. The dealers must know this trick! laugh

It's been fun, more than 8 years now!

Do you still have it?

I thought for some reasons you'd sold it but no idea why I thought that.

Lots of variables but £20-25k would be my guess. Hartech'd 997s have been seen in that range, too.
He has it for £22k on 911uk.

Was just about to say I thought it was a standard ad on ebay before it changed to auction and the asking was then 25.

Yet it comes up time and again as a minor benefit for some cars, as people would rather save £200-£300 a year if they can and happen to be looking at cars of this rough age. It is completely dead money paying the higher rate. It was certainly a welcome saving when I went from a 987 2.7 to a 997 C4S and saved £200 a year for a car with 50% more power.

I just paid £330 on my 2005 Boxster S.

I’ve owned the car for 10 years, so the discount has added up to quite a lot over that time. I definitely agree that it would be better for this tax to be added to fuel given that they dress it up as an environmental levy. My car never does more than 3,000 miles each year, so I’m not polluting that much!

Are you sure? It was a very expensive option to have them covered in leather on 996s at the time but this is the first time I have seen it on a boxster.

You can get these in leather. Don't all rush out there but Suncoast have a 14% sale on...

986 552 980 18 M31 (Boxster Red)

Car looks nice but the photos are not great. Odd that the vendor thinks he'll get more for the hard top selling it separately (I wouldn't give one house room).

Is it Boxster Red or a more reddish red?

Would like to see the sticker to see if that bezel was originally specified as leather-covered.
