This is a great thread, in fact it has inspired me to purchase my first porsche. A 2000 986 3.2s .I have absolutley no experience with these cars, so bought with service history and big file of bills for work done including an engine rebuild by Hartech at 60 thousand miles[now done 102]. trying to upload photos, but it says 2meg limit so not sure how to do that. All i can say is i will run out of talent and road before the car does......smile

I've got one registered June 2007, DVLA website shows 12 months tax at £325
My 2005 is £335 I think.
Maybe its just gone up
I just paid £330 on my 2005 Boxster S.

I’ve owned the car for 10 years, so the discount has added up to quite a lot over that time. I definitely agree that it would be better for this tax to be added to fuel given that they dress it up as an environmental levy. My car never does more than 3,000 miles each year, so I’m not polluting that much!
£3000ish saved in your ownership, not to be sniffed at, and with so many cars on the market anyway, if you're looking for one of this rough age it makes sense to me to avoid the higher tax IMO

Not poverty but PH won't let me start new thread using my phone.

What's the value of a 2006 Cayman S with 12k miles. Silver, pretty basic spec. Never seen rain...always stored indoors and owners says it's basically new Original tyres so they'd be fooked...

No idea on value but I'd be wary of a garage queen like that. The wisdom seems to be they like to be driven, and with so few miles on an unpleasant surprise or two might be lurking which a higher miles car would have shaken out by now.

I'd be more comfortable with a higher miles car with money spent on it, a good spec, and a cheaper purchase price.

Yes, for starters it couldn't be driven and needs trailered and all fluids changed.

It's interesting how a car can have TOO LOW mileage sometimes...

Would you be brave enough to fire it up if the engine itself had not even moved for over 10 years?

If it were me I would change all the fluids, the battery, and just give it a go
A 14 year old car with 12,000 on is not worth a penny more than a well looked after one with 6 times that mileage to me

In some respects it could be worth less than a 40k mile one that's done a steady 3k miles per annum. It's just that it's appeared here slightly under the radar and caught my attention!

Not quite total - it has Bose and climate smile

No mention of service history but the MOT record isn't too bad, just routine wear and tear stuff.

Where do we think it'll end up? £5.5-6K?

black wheels on a black car is not a great look.

Interesting to see where this goes, though.

I don’t think it's that bad. It's consistent as in it all matches. Also the little wheels looks less little in black. Anyway if you're fishing for well priced poverty spec pork you can't be too choosy.

Not quite sure what constitutes Poverty Pork but I recently sold a 981 CS to go back in time. I looked for about a month and I was lucky enough to find one locally that fitted the bill, a 2008 Black Boxster 987 2.7 manual with heated seats and rear parking sensors which were my only must have's. I'm sure I'm not the only person on here who, on selling a car, doesn't like ripping a buyer off and ends up selling the car in the best nick its ever been so you hate seeing it go! Also, I've nearly always fully extended myself financially and could never justify spending more on it to get a car exactly as I wanted it. Anyway back to the 2.7 Boxster, I paid nearly £10k for it so not a bargain by any stretch of the imagination, but it just felt right after basic checks with very good bodywork for a 12 year old (and a new MOT on the day with no advisories) and I have enough spare cash to upgrade the car to the one I can get just right for me. First thing was to get it a major service from my trusted Indy and I picked it up this afternoon, my pockets are a grand lighter but with new belt, plugs, brake fluid change, new o/s track rod/end, new bolts and locking wheel nuts all round, a repaired Kenwood radio/CD and a repaired bonnet/boot switch I have no complaints. There are other items that will require attention but some of those relate to improvements I already have planned eg new shocks and springs all round also with a view to lowering the car slightly at the front. There is some corroded pipe work (when isn't there!) and I may go for a Carnewal exhaust upgrade. So I'll probably spend another £2k or so over the coming months which will bring it to a total of about £13k. Don't know if that's poverty pork but I'm feeling good about it. I'll leave the additional work for a couple of months so I can enjoy open top motoring for the summer.

Also nice to see a wheel/tyre combo where someone has thought about handling on our roads.

I think the 987 on 17's is almost perfection, just handles so nicely.

I would love to own a Cayman on 17s.

I use link below. I will copy paste their instructions below link. You can do all this on your phone if its not from 1960. I added the bold highlighting myself to give you a tip. When you reply to this to say thanks make sure you quote my post and then you'll see how I achieved the bold highlighting. Pics or images can be done using similar square bracket tags but with different letters inside. Closing square brackets tags have to have a slash. I'm going on now more than i intended to so please feel the pressure to get this working as it has now intensified and the world is watching and waiting....

Not sure how I feel about the black hard top. Shying away from the car's best feature there. Assuming extended cow cow cow from you Moo so please don't let us down. I've seen these have black seats with yellow stitching but not here. It doesn't even have a yellow speedo - shockingly poor. The only other option for interior colour is blue and I want to say I've seen these with blue seats and blue hood but I'm only nearly almost definitely certain about that.

Even if you can't find a car with these wheels they are easy enough to find after and retro fit. Moo ran them on his S so you don't need the smaller brakes to play.

I've bebated long and hard about trying to go 16 on my 996 just to try it. The other option would be to go up a profile to 987 front and something similar rear. But perhaps a step too far just for a slight change to the experience.

As I've said repeatedly I'm a sucker for the 986 from this angle with a hardtop on which makes no sense I know but well the pic says it all so I don't have to, but I cant not add that the door being open like this just perhaps teases me in some additional way

Also the description and reason for sale is so new to me that I can only assume that it must be true

I also added another pic to show the copious amount of cow around the air vents to get moo excited

Really struggling to think of reasons why I am not buying this car immediately
