The two year warranty and one previous owner are tempting me...

Lots of advisories at its last Mot in March, I'd want to know that they had been fixed.

Repair as soon as possible (minor defects):

Nearside Rear Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust cover severely deteriorated slightly deteriorated (5.3.4 (b) (i))

Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):

fuel cap seal perished
Nearside Front Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material caliper (1.1.11 (c))
Offside Front Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material caliper (1.1.11 (c))
Nearside Front Inner Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material (1.1.11 (c))
Offside Front Inner Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material (1.1.11 (c))
Front Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material to rear nearside (1.1.11 (c))
Front Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material to rear offside (1.1.11 (c))
Nearside Rear Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material caliper (1.1.11 (c))
Offside Rear Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material caliper (1.1.11 (c))
n/s/f & o/s/f water pipes corroded
Nearside Rear Shock absorbers light misting of oil or has limited damping effect light misting (5.3.2 (b))
Offside Rear Shock absorbers light misting of oil or has limited damping effect light misting (5.3.2 (b))
Did you get the new reg number from the dealership? I searched for the one in the advert photos but it must be on retention.

Brake pipes are a favourite of test stations that also repair - plenty of cash generating labour to replace them and they're almost always covered in some sort of crud if they're more than a few years old. I've had plenty of advisories on them over the years when they've required nothing more than a scrub with a wire brush to prove they're solid.
It is a Scottish car though - they love a bit of salt on the road. Either way a torch and a glance under her skirt should tell you what you need to know.

It's Scottish MOT testers I'm speaking about biglaugh

I guess the advisories could be used as a bargaining chip for potential buyer even if they're visibly ok.

The reg number is listed in the advert - YD58AGX
The plate in the photos has been removed from the car now.

Also it's no longer listed as 1 previous owner, there's now 5.

Here you go

Totally unnecessary but quite satisfying. Possibly of more importance on a convertible where you get the chance to show them off more. If you're not looking you won't see them. But when you do you think nice.
If you are a petrol head clearly. If you're not a petrol head these are irrelevant. It's almost a nod to other petrol heads that you understand their madness as it is also yours.

Bosh. Love it.

Assuming you had to do no more than the cosmetics and aircon rads you might just escape with your shirt. It has some nice options, so would be a shame to scrap it.
Alternatively spend nothing on it and smoke around for a couple of years and sell it for not a huge amount less.
Requires balls either way !

The oil gauges looks very low. And temp shows higher than it should be.

A possible intermix ? (Oil in the water, cracked head)

Nope I reckon not. I think it has been left idling whilst the pics were taken. Without A/C on the fans will cut in & out driven by the DME & they do get quite hot. My Boxster did the same. Deffo take a code reader to have a look though.

Oil pressure is fine - they're around 1 bar when hot. Coolant temp is very high, i've never seen mine get that high even when roasting!

So if I remember correctly,

Stage 1 Fans should operate when the needle hits just right side of the "0" of "80"! and it would cool it down during stationary...

Stage 2 Fans - If stage 1 does not work, the stage 2 should start running just before the middle between 80-120 (like the rusty 996's dash above hehe)

Most probably, like all other 986/996s resistors are dead, so only stage 2 works, but I would still inspect the cooling system, it would not take more than 30 mins.

It is always better to have that 6k in the bank, rather than an unsellable coolant-pissing rusty 996 in your driveway. laugh

I've seen mine get that hot. I started panicking and put the blower on hot. Ad says sold pending collection.

Yes, thought I had seen that one before...it keeps coming back.

I'd say even the insane var market we currently have won't save that one.

£18k spent. Why do people do it? Boggles the mind if it's actually even half that.

Gaffa tape it up for MOT.

Just run it on a shoestring for a few years doing basic servicing, brakes, tyres then smile and enjoy!

The conundrum with a cheap knackered Porsche is you know the handling and braking will be compromised. If you are entering Porsche ownership for the badge then fine but if it's to enjoy the handling then there will always be a tinge of regret if you don't do anything to it where you may know something is worn out but not broken.

Poverty air-cooled metal! 1976 911s imported from the States for £20k all in. Only poverty in the air-cooled world, ludicrous compared to water cooled porkers but that is the entry fee at the moment!
