Yeah I get they are the same for the 987.1 and 987.2 apart from the colour, but it looks so much better in black.
Thanks for the link, respray is a good idea. I would probably remove the PCM anyway, and put in a Carplay unit.
I did it on my 986....
Now they are all screen, and no surround on the unit and then another fascia, my OCD can handle it not being OEM.

Same here. Apart from the battery, it's the only non-OEM item in mine I think. I'd never go back, having a fully functioning unit like that makes the car feel so much more modern and CarPlay means that the functionality is just as good on my £300 Pioneer unit as it would be on an expensive OEM set up in a brand new car.It actually improved the interior look compared to the PCM as well - as you say, all screen with no buttons or knobs. I've kept the PCM just in case I ever want to sell it to someone who wants it 100% stock, not that I'm ever likely to sell.
I have these https://type911shop.co.uk/epages/de867ca1-377e-432...
Haven’t used them yet so don’t know if they are any good.

Yes they are.
I do not get the love for Porsche cup holders though, they are literally the worst I have ever used. You can't put a ponsy Starbucks in there unless its anything less than half full.
Agreed, my 996 has the 2 in the centre console & they are f’ing useless, literally never used them in over 11yrs!I do not get the love for Porsche cup holders though, they are literally the worst I have ever used. You can't put a ponsy Starbucks in there unless its anything less than half full.

It blows my mind that these still passed for an acceptable solution when these cars were new, but hey - that's character! Haven’t used them yet so don’t know if they are any good.
If you do use them, take care aligning all the various prongs with the correct slots on the air vent - otherwise the vent is easily damaged or the drink isn't properly supported and will flop out of the holder, all over your leg/door.
I've done both.

Think I might test them with water
Thanks, yeah great history, mixture of OPC and specialist, lots of old invoices, even a few previous bills of sale (if you like that type of thing!).
Slight blow from the exhaust which I believe is from a clamp, other than that it seems spot on. MOT in two weeks so will know more then.

I've got a split exhaust on mine, just bought a second hand one from a breakers with a better seam, (that's what rusts through). Welded it up and it's ready to go just waiting for time and warmth to fit it!Slight blow from the exhaust which I believe is from a clamp, other than that it seems spot on. In the mean time I've made a bodge fix, take a bit of galvanised tube from the kids trampoline netting, drill hole through it and then split. Makes a nice little clamp, bolted up where the seam has split open and it's nice and quiet again.
(Bear in mind this was a VERY cheap Boxster and I'm running on a shoestring budget!)
