Similar to this one.
I have often thought about a 911, prefer the smaller size and look of the aircooled ones but the prices are beyond me. Probably prefer a Targa as well. Nice colour though.
Even this is beyond my current budget I think but the spec seems interesting. Worth the money?

Avoid on the basis of the seller.
Agreed. Run a mile.
88% eBay feedback too!

That 924 has been off the road for 7 yrs....I think it might be a bit more recommissioning than the seller thinks!

I suspect judging by the moss it will be like a stagnant swimming pool inside. Mechanical fuel injection doesn't like being left unused either.

All the rubber hoses could be perished as well as needing a coolant flush (water pump?). It’ll also need 4 new tyres purely on age, new brake fluid and maybe a clutch as well & that’s before any corrosion issues underneath (& we haven’t even got on to the paintwork condition scratchchin)

That car only has one future... to be hacked to bits for spares to keep better examples on the road.

Although I like 924's, the value of good examples means it isn't worth putting the effort/money into this one..

My tiny mile 924 had been dry stored and then a had a big service before I bought it. I still ended up sinking quite a chunk in to it to get it running properly. And as said, the mechanical fuel injection hates sitting for long periods!

It does have a sunroof too, it might have leaked water big-time, inside.

Saw this and did get me thinking.

I'd love an early, early 924 with none of the frills. Steel wheels, metal badges, single door mirror.

They will have their day!

Mine had one door mirror, no sunroof, no radio, badic 2 spoke steering wheel from a Golf. Other than alloys, it was full on poverty spec.

Each to his own. My left knee gives me occasional discomfort thanks to a 2004 ‘head on’ collision, so the Tiptronic for me is great. However we have a T5 and a VW Golf that are both manual (no probs). I have had 3 Boxsters previously ...all manual & enjoyed them all so I understand the manual thing. Having owned a Tiptronic Porsche for 6 years I don’t understand why so many people are anti Tip.

I said that until I drove one (the one we ended up buying), turns out, for what we use it for it's perfect.

The 924 is interesting, as although the owner quite understandably thinks that £999 is dirt cheap, relative to what you can buy a good one for, I dont think its actually cheap enough. Its a parts car, really.

Regarding 924s - there has been a number of them through Collecting Cars in the past weeks and months which i've been keeping an eye on, and currently, my favourite yet - this absolutely lovely vision in Brown over Brown:

https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1980-porsche-9...

Colour, stance, wheels, tyres, condtion, all adds up for me on this one. Its a cracker.

Its at £4500, I reckon itll go for less than £10, which I think is a good buy based on what we can see. I've always fancied a 924S (like the Le Mans edition below) with the 2.5 but actually I bet the older Turbo is a hoot, at 170bhp in that light chassis it will go well, and presumably easily tuned/tweaked too.

Some others sold recently below - note the price on the red ones, hence my opinion of £999 being too much for the eBay potential rotbox!
