I saw a red interior on a 911 on eBay a few years ago, it was described as oxblood (I think?) and looked a real deep red. It was matched with a dark grey metallic exterior.
I'm not normally a fan of the gopping red or tan interiors but this one really looked stunning.
I happen to hate all black interiors and the 987 (/997) red colour is very red indeed. I love it, and the one you describe sounds not unlike my 987; red inside and dark grey exterior. I'm not normally a fan of the gopping red or tan interiors but this one really looked stunning.

Cheapest Cayman I have seen advertised.

Miley as you would expect at that price.
MoT history doesn’t look too bad.
Put the details in to WBAC and it comes up with a price of £7350
That's a good price for a 987 Cayman, particularly now as they have gone up a chunk recently. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202108256...

Yes, high miles but the 2.7 engine was by far the strongest one of the bunch. Seat looks quite 'honest'.
That probably won't hang around for long at that price.

Yes, in real life they have a more wine red color but most cameras just blow them out to be too red/pink which isn't the true color. In our driving crew, one of the nicest looking cars is a white over red 991. Gets alot of attention but photos of the inside never translate that.
Not quite sure if this quite qualifies as 'Poverty', but in the next couple of weeks I may be looking for some stand-in Porsche for 9-12 months inbetween 911 and potential Emira ownership.
Looking for something (obviously) that wont rinse me of money - depreciation or servicing but will provide a thrill for weekends and holidays. Hell, might even cancel the Emira, mod it and keep it forever. Whats not to like about a raspy n/a 2.7 flat 6 eh?!?
Found this, nice little 987, well written ad, could meet / buy from the owner, appears to have been loved.

Anyone on here? What are the PH collectives thoughts?

It could be good. No major red flags. I like the tiny wheels and I like the 2005 reg as 2006 cars are £600 to tax - even the lowly 2.7 litre. If it is local then I would go for a look see and get a feel for the owner. Of course there could be some stuff which needs doing you just never know with these cars. But if you go in with your eyes open and dont expect perfection then there should be some fun there for you.Looking for something (obviously) that wont rinse me of money - depreciation or servicing but will provide a thrill for weekends and holidays. Come on the main problem with some models of this era are these hideous interiors. Probably why it isn’t selling.
I think the colour combo is nice - although, black steering wheel and mats would balance out the interior much better.ATM said:

10 years ago I went to test drive one exactly like this. A basic spec '05 2.7l 987 on those exact 17" wheels. I remember being impressed by the exhaust note (I got to start it inside the OPC and drive it straight out) and by the car in general.
It was the cheapest modern Porsche sports car in Switzerland by some margin and strangely it was sold by a OPC (but having only kwik fit style maintenance!) and I somehow still regret not buying it.
ATM has outlined an additional big plus and as you say, the ad is well written. If you like what you see and have good vibes from the seller, I can't see you loosing money on this. Go for it!

FWIW I was reading the Porsche Owners Club and PH buyers guide to these earlier, looks like 2007 model year got a revised engine which should eradicate any IMS issues, plus gains a few horsepower (245bhp in the 2.7) and also looks like it drops co2 to 222g/km - so lower tax as per the pre March 2006 registration models.Set of cheap genuine X51 inlet manifolds should anyone be interested?

I thought I’d return to this thread after a long time away. Nearly 8 years ago I bought a cheap Boxster 986 2.7 SportDesign to “scratch the itch”. I’ve kept it all this time…going from a daily to a second and then third car. During this time I’ve done a lot of work to it, all DIY, including…
-Front end refresh, coffin arms, drop links, top mounts, tuning forks, shocks
-Recon steering rack
-Bypassed exhaust, with bypass pipes wrapped
-Discs, pads, sensors, brake pipes, braided lines, fluid, calliper overhaul and repaint
-Radiators/condensers/water pump
-New cat and a couple of O2 sensors (Astra ones are identical if you swap the plugs over)
-Usual annoying things like window mechanism, airbag light
-Repainted the dash in the original SportDesign crackle finish silver
-Wheel refurb
-Servicing, fluids belts etc
In preparation for the NC500 in a few weeks, I’ve given the car a full detail…never done it before, time consuming, expensive on materials but satisfying, and the results are incredible.
Bloody love this old thing, about to turn 20 and looking, driving and sounding amazing even with 90k on the clock. And, every single thing works as it should!

There was a C2 at £8950 on eBay a couple of months ago but it sold within a couple of hours. It has been some time since we seen a sub £10K 911.

Car has done 212000 miles and drives well and the sports exhaust sounds great but it will need some attention to the gearbox
When mine went it could not be repaired so I bought a used gearbox for £2500 from Germany as they are quite hard to find. Porsche will sell you one for £10 grand. Cost about £600 for my specialist to do the swap. I left the clutch unchanged.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
