Guys bit of a cheeky non-advert.

Happily Mrs Shalmaneser has a lovely baby bump! Sadly she will be getting rid of her 987 2.7 Boxster. But we've got an Alfa yey!

Not put together an advert yet (will do photos etc over the weekend).

Was thinking about £9k? Thoughts?

90k, black on black, manual, 19" wheels, extended leather, sports seats, sport chrono, sat-nav (lol). Excellent service history, Tower Porsche in London during our ownership mainly although I've done some bits myself - engine mounts and brake discs and pads mainly. Oh yeah and 4x drop links what a nightmare that was. Matching Dunlop Sportmaxx tyres.

Think it's quite a desirable spec.

Only downsides are kerbed wheels (no lady driver comments thanks) and some carpark battle scars. London car innit. Emails are open for interested parties. Will be going on Autotrader over the weekend.
Depending upon the severity of those car park battle scars then I'd think that that is underpriced. Others will have more wisdom but I'd be starting nearer £12k and seeing what interest you get.
No chance. Not with cars like this for £12k from a dealer with ostensible statutory protections, no carpark scars and a fraction of the mileage.

That car, incidentally, has not sold quickly.

Market isn't great right now what with the post lockdown buying frenzy long having subsided, cost of living going exponential, economy tipping into recession, the blacksmith's strike in its 15th week and the Dorset Horse Fetishist's Fair just around the corner, to say nothing of the potential impact of poor weather on Jewish New Year. Anyway, it's v slow out there and I think to get it actually sold, £12k ain't gonna cut it. £9k sounds a bit more likely to get the phone ringing.

A lot of cars in the classifieds right now priced for a reality that no longer exists.
Mrs Shalmaneser is convinced it's a 10k car but it needs to be gone with a kid around the corner so hopefully priced to sell (hold out your 'and, you've robbed me blind, etc etc).

I didnt realise the Mortimers car was full extended leather. That means full leather on the dash right? That feels like a rare option on the 986
The first speed yellow at Matthewsons that fetched the big money was extended leather to include door cards and dash. It's not as rare an option I don't believe as it is on 987 and 981

Both my 986 have had extended leather. Most S I've seen have had it.

Leather dash is standard with ext leather on a 986. Not terribly rare.

I thought it was just leather door panels on the 986 which is reasonably common but the leather dash is v rare.

Looks ok but thin on any real history or background. If you're after an early original car this one has the later glass roof retrofitted and what looks like 987 or aftermarket copies of 19s.

Can I just wave this one past you guys please
More local to me, OK colour although I wonder if the front wings have been painted. Worn seat bolster and repeated brake pipe & driveshaft gaiter items listed in MoT history.

or a tidy looking blue one near my old stomping grounds, same price, two years older but 20K less miles

Blue one far nicer, in my view. The Turbo alloys on the red one are also a bit of a disaster.

Agreed, although a set of turbo twists on the red one would rescue it to some extent and possibly leave some money in the piggy bank?

Can't do green, there's another green one with tan trim just arrived on FB too.
Re the wheels on the red one, as a numpty question, why the hate?
I'm getting tempted by that blue one but it's a full day out, about 6 or more hours each way as I no longer live in the NE. Wife would like the blue but I prefer brighter colours on a small(ish) car. Mileage etc is good.

9X6 cars look rubbish on 19" rims.
They handle worse
Those 997 Turbo rims look like they come from Halfords and are only barely acceptable on a 997 Turbo

I think from some angles even 18 wheels looks a bit too big

Ah right, thanks, additional unsprung weight not compensated by greater tyre footprint

The 55k mile 986 that we bought Dec 2021 has finally needed some maintenance over normal servicing.

Recently the backbox started looking crusty, so a Dansk OEM spec was fitted.

Had a front coil spring snap, which had me disappearing down the wormhole of "while I'm at it", resulting in springs, dampers, top mounts, top mount bearings, bump stops, damper boots, tuning forks, coffin arms, ARB drop links, steering arms & boots, all done easily by me.

Now we have an oil leak from the RMS, which is covered under the warranty offered by Flat Six Classics, the wormhole opens up again & "while they are in there" the IMS bearing is being upgraded with an EPS unit. It's all part of having a near 20year old car, look how much a similar new car would depreciate.
