Another red one, 9K miles in 12 years and a history indicating lack of use.
thought I'd seen the plate in another advert somewhere.
Price not too bad, don't like black wheels. Could sell the plate to pay for a wheel refurb/replace.
The cheesy write up puts me off a bit.

Very little to like there. It's on ditchfinders, for a start, always a bad signthought I'd seen the plate in another advert somewhere.

Allow £1k for decent tyres & wheel refurb? Guess the lack of spend is due to lack of use. Wouldn't be surprised if they've hoyed a cheap tyre on as the old ones were perished (or were cut as per old MoT history). False economy but some might not notice... They do have sincere pleasure in offering the car though.

If you're hunting a gen one 3.2 that hasn't been mercilessly Barried, slammed on silly wheels (that red one on the 19-inch 9x7 wheels will be a total stshow to drive), or punted about between 20 careless owners, this looks like it might be a decent buy:

The market is very weird right now. Prices all over the place. Weird times all round so I suppose that stands to reason!

I've been looking for yellow or red mainly, i keep thinking blue more (too) conservative for me, but that, one owner car has to be worth a look. It's 500 miles from me, so would need someone to give it a look over for me.

There are some very well looked after old Boxsters out there, but they are few and far between. I think it is well worth waiting it out until the right car comes along. You are limiting your market quite significantly by being choosy about colours, I think, but even allowing for that, the right car will come up eventually.
As I think I said in an earlier post, some of the best looked after cars will be offered for sale through the PCGB and TIPEC. It's also well worth joining one or both and possibly attending some local meets, you might well make some headway in finding a great car by doing that.
I know from painful experience that buying a neglected Porsche is not at all fun, so it's essential to find one I think that has plenty of evidence of recent maintenance.

I rejected a Cayman 2.9 at £8950 a few years ago. It was in good condition and had been well looked after, and I don't think the small dealer who had taken it in part-ex really knew what he had. When I pointed out to him it was the 2.9, rather than the 2.7, he'd been unaware. I was driving a 4.2 V8 Jaguar XK at the time, and the Cayman seemed a bit underwhelming by comparison, but I regret not buying it now!

Thanks again, I did look at both sites and note TIPEC have a Scottish branch although not exactly local to me (nothing is).I know from painful experience that buying a neglected Porsche is not at all fun, so it's essential to find one I think that has plenty of evidence of recent maintenance.
PCGB don't seem to list the 986 in their cars for sale search.

Personally I'd be looking for a car from Boxa.net or TIPEC rather than PCGB. At this age, I'd prefer a car that has been owned by a hands on enthusiast rather than somebody who has used it for the occasional sunday drive.PCGB don't seem to list the 986 in their cars for sale search.
I'd also try to look beyond cosmetics and prioritise what it looks like underneath.

Don't think you can prescribe like that. Not everyone with a good example uses a given platform. Some good cars on AT and PH. Some crap ones on the enthusiast forums. And vice versa. Looking at TIPEC, last 986 advertised there was June 2020. More frequent on Boxa.net, but still only a tiny fraction of the available cars.I wouldn't worry what platform it's advertised on. You have to keep an eye on the lot.
