Summary
This is a beautiful well cared for Boxster S in the right spec and colour with exceptionally low mileage .
It s first 2 owners were ladies in the Cambridge area then sold to a neighbour of mine who garaged it at my house and eventually I bought it off him 6 yrs ago .
It has been garaged continually and used sparingly.
The car drives absolutely as it should, everything works and I would welcome any professional inspection on the car to my knowledge there are no faults on the car whatsoever there can’t be many as good as this .
The car is currently on a private plate that will be removed but that could be available if required .

There's not much to say apart from it looks nice in the photos. You can't see the condition, inspect the history see what things have been changed etc. On the face of it it looks a nice car. 60k isn't particularly low mileage so if you were really fussy you could still be looking at all the usual maintenance items. I had a 58k S back in 2012 that was 12 years old and it could have done with a new clutch but it soldiered on. I had all the suspension and brakes renewed.

14k! Very low miles but what does that matter if you actually want to drive it?
Depends how far you want to drive it. If you really, really want to drive it - 10k plus miles a year on an ongoing basis - then it becomes relevant! But I grant, not much advantage for a weekend toy doing a few thousand miles a year.esotericar said:

Why do I keep dithering, I've seen a number of cars advertised, in the range of colours I want and within some sort of sensible budget. They're all too far distant to view personally, except a couple which were sold before I could get there. I can however arrange a professional viewing.
So why do I dither?
The fact that I can't view personally, or too many owners (is 6 too many on a 20 year old car when I tend to keep something about 3 years myself unless there's a personal link), or current owner has only had it for less than a year, or seat wear, or wheel type (I don't really like the imitation "split rim".
Am I rushing into this too quickly, should I wait for the "right car" within personal viewing distance (even if a professional view would be far more likely to spot a model specific problem). I note ATM took 3 or 4 years to find his car, surely it won't take that long?

Mine failed it’s MOT today
It was the handbrake last year and this year it was a NS ball joint boot split and he failed it on the arch liner rub on full lock which hasn’t been picked up before.
He was very complementary though saying it was in better condition than most of the 5 year old cars he sees.

New coffin arms, track control arms, drop links and ARB bushes along with a strip down, clean and paint of various components.
Worst part was getting the top of the drop links out!
Hopefully all back together on Saturday if all the parts arrive.
Top tip for lifting the car is 2 12v scissor jacks at £40 each which made life really easy.

It's a bit of a nightmare buying, feel your pain. All the crap, disappointing cars. Most sellers chronically over valuing their sheds and not being transparent or even terribly honest. Or really having much of a clue about what they have etc.
Hate buying cars! Buying at the moment (not 986, but not a million miles away) and it is absolutely no fun. Especially in a falling market where many sellers are pricing for a peak that passed about four to six months ago.

6 owners wouldn't put me off unless they were all tightly bunched at the most recent end. None of the standard wheels are a fake split rim. Everything is fixable at a cost and at the sensible prices you have to be prepared to do a few bits. I've bought 2 and still have one in the last 10 years and once physically viewing cars probably bought within a month and probably seeing less than a handful physically each time. It's a tough one. I've had my 987 for almost 12 years now after buying it from a family member, and a reticence to get involved in the used car market is one of the reasons I'll probably never change it!Why do I keep dithering, I've seen a number of cars advertised, in the range of colours I want and within some sort of sensible budget. That said, I'd probably not be too worried about six owners on a 20 year old car unless something looked amiss. These are often going to be weekend toys - some people like me will find one they get on with and keep it long term, others will get bored more quickly and keep swapping.
Similarly with the wheels and seats - it's always hassle getting things changed or refurbished after buying a car, but if it was something like that on a car that ticked a lot of boxes, I'd probably wouldn't let it put me off if the market was difficult.
Good luck with the search.

I'm not a typical buyer and I already had 2 or 3 Porsches. So for me it was just a want because my first Porsche was a 986 and I loved it. So I'm reminiscing. But they are still great cars. I dithered a bit too but the price on mine was very inviting. I think I got lucky with an auction where no one else bid. Either because the advert was badly written or people just dont like buying a Boxster via Auction. No idea. So I bid a little over the starting price but won for the starting price. I was pleased and the best news for me is I have stopped looking at 986 cars for sale where as I was always having a cursory look to see what was available. There might be a better car out there but I dont care now. I have my 986.Skyedriver said:
My first Boxster had those on. I couldn’t wait get rid of them. Had two people on eBay bidding like mad. They went for £800 (18 years ago ) I bought some 2nd hand turbo twist… looked so much better & without the moisture traps that split rims present you with!
